hi guys.

i know this isnt a "new" problem as i've seen others had this, but all the "fixes" that helped others didnt help me so i decided to post my own thread.

every time my game tries to load windhelm it goes into an infinite load screen and either it gets stuck in the loading screen or it crashes after a few minutes of loading screen.
if a quest teleports me into a house in windhelm and i try to leave the house through the door to windhelm - it locks up on loading screen. also if im trying to go into the city through the bridge - same problem.

i tried disabling my mods but couldnt find the culprit. tried reverting SKSE. no luck. i even tried using the "save cleaner" mod.

the only thing that helped me get into windhelm without a crash was loadding a save from a different character i played a few months back. obviously this isnt a solution but it might point to the source of the problem. i will also note that i tried to go into windhelm with all of my many mods and the game locked up. then, without disabling any mod, i rebooted the game and loaded that other character and the game worked fine in windhelm. i didnt disable any texture or weather mod or anything.

any ideas on what i can try and do to solve this issue with my current lvl 51 character?!

It sounds like your save file has gotten corrupted somehow. Do you have a recent save you can roll back to on that Level 51 character?

Have you :

- verified the cache ?

- tried a console command to move into Windhelm eg coc WindhelmExterior01

yes. i CAN revert to an older save.
however i remember a while back where i did the white phial quest and walked into the shop where i got the quest (to return the found phial) and when i tried to leave the game locked up in teh loading screen so i had to load an older save before entering the shop and just NOT finish the quest.

i get a feeling this BUG will happen again and i wish to understand how to avoid it if it reappears.

no. i didnt. after you recommenede this i loaded the game again but typing "coc windhelpexterior01" (or 02 or 03 or 04) all it did was place me in front of the gate outside. that's not where the issue is. my issue is loading the inside of the city.
