I'm going to negotiate with the khans in Boulder City and then follow them all the way back to Red Rock Canyon.

Oh, that could be interesting. I've done that with the woman who comes from Bravil I think it is in Oblivion to fight with everyone closing the Great Gate in Bruma. If I don't, she sometimes doesn't make it home. It's a long walk but there are adventures along the way. :)

I've done that "walk back with the Great Khans from Boulder City" thing and it's not all that easy really. They don't exactly have the strongest weapons and armor in the game on them and they pass by some fairly deadly spawns on a few occasions and as was mentioned they walk incredibly slowly so keeping them all alive is very difficult. It's easier to scout ahead for them but it's kinda cheating in my mind to clear a path for them. I don't even want to think about trying it with the increased spawns mod active, now THAT would be a real challenge.

Following npc's is one of the most amusing things in the game, imo. But yea it's slow going and of course they can die during the walk, where they won't if you don't follow (so they just 'disappear').

Try following Vulpes & his gang after he walks away from Nipton.

I started a new game yesterday w/for specific use of the most recent version of the Increased Spawns mod. It has been so much fun...it's actually a little bit of a challenge (still playing Very Hard). Even with Boone along, I get to kill things because there's often enough that he can't kill them all before I get to have some fun too. It feels like myself and a companion are actually a team more often now, instead my being a bystander to their aimbot-prowess. It's awesome.

Also, the topic of game-sounds: 1st I listened to the music. Then I turned that off and listened to the wind and environmental effects. Recently I became tired of listening to constant wind and creaky noises and turned those off too. Now all I can basically hear is faint footsteps, voices, creature noises, splashes, combat/gunfire etc. It's become somewhat eerily atmospheric that way (silence then sudden noises), plus I've begun to notice voice bits that often get half-drowned out by even just the wind noise. I like listening to the speeches/voices without the wind howl, too...
