Game problem - extra bound longbow in inventory

I have a weird problem

I paid to enchant an exquisite belt with CE bound cuirass and bound longbow. Until recently it worked as expected - equip the belt, the items appear and displace whatever I had equipped. Remove the belt and the bound items disappear.

At some point, this broke, and I ended up with an extra bound longbow in my inventory even when not wearing the enchanted belt. The game will not let me remove this item from my inventory.

I also notice odd things with the equipped icon and the char's graphic in the inventory management window.

When I equip the belt, the icon displays the h2h icon (nothing equipped) rather than the icon for the bound longbow. I have to manually unequip and re-equip the bound longbow before the icon will change to show that it has been equipped.

When I switch to another weapon, the graphic image will show the equipped weapon, but the icon displays the h2h icon.

Has anyone else reported this type of problem?

Any theories about what caused this problem?

I have worked around this at the moment by re-starting my game using an earlier save which does not have the problem, as far as I can tell. However, it it happens again, is there a way to fix it without starting from an earlier saved game? If nothing else, I'd like to be able to remove the item from my inventory.

Thanks.

This is a common problem, and this is the reason why Constant Effect Bound items are not recommended.
From the wiki:
Constant effect bound items also glitch a lot when you enter menu mode (right click) then un-equip and re-equip them without leaving menu mode in between. Sometimes they even glitch when you do leave menu mode between un- and re- equipping. These glitches mainly consist of keeping one or more bound items when the effect is removed. This can be solved by fully repairing the bound items and then using the console to remove the items from your inventory. Repairing the items beforehand is required, otherwise the game will crash.

The command is
player->removeitem "ID of the item" 1
