In-game recording

Post » Mon Oct 06, 2008 5:59 am

There is one function I would like to see in the new Crysis; in-game recording. That is, recording without using any 3rd party programs (i.e. Fraps, Game Cam etc.), but with a console command, an in-game plug-in, or anything similar to that. What I'm trying to say is that 3rd party programs usually takes a lot of hardware on your system, which leads to lower FPS. There is some other games, like Call of Duty 4, who are using this method. Based on what I've heard, it records the game and saves it as a log file, which will then be rendered to a video file outside game.

I know for sure that screenshots are supported, and am fairly certain that so is video, but I'm not sure...

I hope it incorperates this. 3rd party programs intruding on my game drastically lower my fps, which is why I never make a video. If Crytek added this ability, I could finally show off my skillz on youtube. :D

I agree, this would be a great feature. Something like the halo 3 video recorder but better would be good. I enjoyed using the Halo 3 video recording and screenshot feature, i sometimes played around with it for hours, but I was disapointed that you couldn't copy, paste, and mix video's together. It would also be good if these files were computer compadible files, such as jpeg for screenshots and avi for video's so that we could view & edit them on our computers and upload to any site we like. Including these features into Crysis 2 my be a time consuming thing for Crytek to do, but it would definitely be worth while.

Xfire is a very light program and you can even do a live broadcast with it,
(which i'm sure all of you know), there's no fps drop, at least for me.

Isn't in-game recording in Crysis?

Or is it in the editor?

Hmm, I really dunno if it's here or not. But if it's not, it would be nice to have an in-game recorder.

Yes, the editor features an in-game AVI recorder. The game does not.

I remember back in the day for Unreal Tournamnet 99 clan battles we would have every single member of every team do in game recording, then compile them all and each clan would look over the other teams recordings to verify no one was using aimbots or infinite health, etc.
