Game is running Low FPS

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 12:51 pm

Cant figure out why my game is running like it is I play skyrim with high/ultra settings with barely any lagg but this game just runs like dog poop I don't have any texture mods or ENBs just imaginator dynavision cinematic and directors chair that alter the coloring also nevada skies but I pretty much have the equivalent of those mods on skyrim I've taken off HDR and put my shodows down to low and my distant view low and still get low FPS I'm running the 4gb loader also so that should help but it doesn't. Any suggestions?

The mods you have installed could be the problem, have you got a backup file from before you installed the mods?

There's nothing wrong with Alienware PCs. (There's a reason they're the number 1 gaming PC brand right now) Just because you choose to not like them, it doesn't mean everyone has to feel the same.

@OP - What mods have you installed recently? Anything that adds loads of clutter, lighting, etc, and isn't well optimised, can cause lag problems.

He can love it as much as he'd like, his choice, I was just going to tell him there are better gaming rigs out there for a lot cheaper, but as you can see I didn't and got back on topic.

OP, the only thing I would suggest is getting rid of the mods. Can you actually disable mods? I know for Oblivion you could, is it the same for Fallout NV?

I reinstalled my game last night so all the mods you see are the most recent as far as clutter i'm not sure most of those don't except a few armor mods and gun mods the rest just tweak the game like PNV and Mission mojave none of them add much to the game I have like 20 new armor and clothes combined with the 3 armor mods and most of the weapon mods are singular weapons only texture mod i have is weapon retexture project the rest like i said just change features in the game and UI

Regisider The whole point of me getting this game on PC is for the mods I just don't understand why a game that isn't that demanding on a PC is running like this were as my Skyrim witch has WAY more mods most of which need a decent rig plays at 40-50FPS where as FONV runs at like 15-20 some times lower

I'll try help as much as possible.

Do all these mods actually go to together? I know a lot of mods aren't compatible and will cause errors with the game, one of them being FPS issues.

I made sure these mods are compatible I do use NMM instead of FOMM and alot of mod authors suggest using that over NMM but alot of people said NMM is better

As painful as this sounds, your best bet is doing a clean install and seeing if that does anything at all.

If you are going with reinstalling the game, to shelp save some headaches, rename the falloutNV install folder so it wont be deleted when you go trhough the uninstall process. This way if the clean install does nothing, you can just delete the fesh install (Not uninstall it) and rename the old install so you lose nothing.

You really need a basis for comparison. You reinstalled the game? Did you try running it vanilla without mods at all? What kind of FPS are you getting then?

When you're playing does it instantly have terrible FPS or does it get terrible FPS the more time you play? The only other thing I could think of is overheating.

Post the kinds of FPS are you getting? When I say vanilla you have to make sure you completely disable all mods. This means unchecking all nexus mods (you can leave the DLC checked), disable archive invalidated, and allow the game to remake the .ini files (backup the originals first). I mean the 2 .ini files here: C:\Users\Nathan\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV Fallout.ini and Falloutprefs.ini (just delete these two and let the game remake them)

If you made any changes to the default .ini in the main game directory, then it should also be backed up, deleted then restored using a game cache verify. You should also uninstall nvse, 4GB fix, and d3d9.dll fix.

Your Alienware does have 2 graphic processors. Make sure you have the right one selected in the New Vegas Launcher. There will be a drop down box at the top.

One poster quite recently had FPS issues, it was related to the Dynavision, Directors Chair.

Also, I am not sure as the efficacy of running both MMUE and PNV together at the same time, as they seem to change a bunch of the same stuff.

Did you add these mods over time, testing the game, or did you just throw a bunch on there and hope for the best?

Most of these mods were added while following the Gopher tutorial on youtube so kinda all at the same time I'm reinstalling now Can anyone tell me what mods you might consider the most PC demanding from the list i posted? Also the game did improve after taking off Cenimatech and Dynavision but for some reason cenimatech isn't uninstalling right when I do it from NMM Unified Hud still detects it hopefully the reinstall will fix it cause I'm not going to put it back on I will also take off MMUE but will that affect a previous save? Any tips on a fresh install to make sure the game runs smoothly with mods?

Unlike skyrim which later got the 4g patch, fonv dosent have that. So u are starting the game with the 4gnvse correct? There is also a stutter remover as well.
