I finished 2 of today's objective quite easily. Not going to buy either of the games on sale though.

I already had the overachiever objective, and I'm going to do the recommendation one too. So that brings my final total to 13 objectives.

Just logging on to be eligible for the grand prize (when you have 10 completed objectives). I doubt they'd add a new set of objectives that would have to be completed within 24 hours.

Got 10 objectives completed now as well. I'll log on the 20th and see how it goes. Well, at least I made these without buying any games! Well... at least Empire: Total War on sale for 15$.. but that wasn't for the objective anyway. :P

So on sale today and tomorrow for the special:

Empire: Total War at 15$ instead of 30$
Flight Control HD at 2.50$ instead of 5.00$

Anyone else terrified of actually winning 100 games? I mean think of the consequences: the time spend downloading, the time needed to play even a portion of those games.

That contest has the ability of affecting your life for the coming years.

I wonder how long time he winner will be able to use his 100 games.
I guess they want you to take them all now so you can't just get all the big games of 2011.

Looks like the Winter sales on Steam may have begun, nearly 100 things on sale right now. I just bought the Deus Ex collection for $2.99, but there is quite a few other good sales. The Eidos+Square Enix pack which is usually $600 is only $75 now.

Yep, looks like they just updated the front page to show what's for sale.

EDIT: Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a really good deal, Super Meat Boy is supposed to be good for platforming fans, and all the Prince of Persia games are on sale (which I've been waiting for).

Does anyone know/remember how exactly the Steam holiday sales work? Can games that are on sale but not in the "today's deals" section get a bigger sale later (by being part of a "today's deal")? I've been waiting for the sales to start to get Fallout:NV, and it's 25% off but not on "today's deals", which is quite good, but would be a pity if waiting a few more days might get me a better deal.

BTW, Steam's slow as molasses right now and bugs are showing through here and there.

All Beth games 25% off until Jan. 2nd. It might be a daily deal before then so I'd wait.

Yes, that can happen. So for the general sale I'd recommend waiting until the last days with buying something so you don't accidentally buy it before it becomes a daily deal.

So yeah, if for whatever reason, despite having had a billion discounts already, you still don't have Deus Ex, get it now. It's cheaper to get both games together then just DX1 so go for the bundle. ;)

Titan Quest Gold and Portal are also nice.

And the Sands of Time Prince of Persia games. But forget about The Forgotten Sands.

Yup. What I usually do is pick up the daily deals as they appear, but when it comes to stuff that's discounted through the January 2nd--I wait until the last day of the sale to buy them. Just in case they go up for a daily deal somewhere along the way.

...In other news, every year, I think I'm mentally prepared for the awesomeness that is the Steam holiday sale. Then it actually starts and I wind up hyperventilating and passing out on my keyboard. ...Not really. But you get the idea.

If anyone's looking at Mass Effect 2 it's only $8 on GamersGate, as opposed to the ~$25 on steam at the moment.
