For people wondering about the indie puzzle pack:

Tidalis is a lot of fun and the story mode has a sense of humor.

Droplitz was really challenging for me but it is still pretty fun. It seems well thought-out and you unlock levels by scoring a certain number of points on various levels.

I haven't gotten around to playing cogs yet

Shatter is, at the moment, my favorite game in the pack. It is similar to the old tile breaker game (I don't remember the exact name) but has a lot of extra features that make it fun to play.

Puzzle Dimension is a new and fun concept. The puzzles are challenging but not overwhelming.

I'd say I am very pleased with the pack, especially for the price of $5.

Wow :o

That's an amazing deal. It's half off a game that was already half off what you would normally be paying by getting everything included in it separately. If any deal would ever make me break my rule of not buying digital games for over $10, this is it.

If only this was on Steam. My internet svcks ("crappy dorm internet" as I call it), and I can generally only stay connected for short intervals, which are only long enough to download ~300 mb before I disconnect and the download ends, and no download manager I've tried has helped to restart the downloading process even on filed that allow it. So downloading 12.37 GB is out of the question. But I CAN do this on Steam, because that lets you pause downloads indefinitely, and continue them whenever you like. So, essentially, I would buy this deal, but I can't. :(

...Unless someone can tell me Impulse gives you the ability to pause downloads...

I am checking... Looks like you can... I just did a download of a demo, paused and closed the client then restarted it...

I'm wondering if i should get Mount n Blade complete version. Is it good?

Also, it looks like there are gonna be many good games on sale at Christmas... Looks like I won't give any presents this year. :P

Its stand-out feature is its combat, and combat is the core of the game. The trade system is okay -you can be a pure trader, if you want- but the roleplaying elements are limited. The political system in Warband adds some interesting options, but you do need to go to war if you want to gain any actual power. You don't have to fight personally, though, since you can sit back and let your minions die for you instead :P. Its also quite modable, something which has definitely been taken advantage of.

Overall, worth $10 :).

Yep, not only that, but if my internet disconnects, I can still resume it. Great! Now I just hope this deal lasts until I can put some money on my card later today, though it's a Deal of the Day so I should be fine.

Hmm, the Air Pack might be worth it just for Altitude. Had a lot of fun with that during the free weekend a while back.

Wow. One of Amazon's lightning deals was for 3D Dot Game Heroes for $15, and they sold out in less than 4 minutes. That's only 5 bucks in savings...

I think I'll pick up the Indie Air Pack off of steam. Gratuitous Space Battles looked pretty cool back when it was on sale by itself, and for five bucks one of those games ought to be good.

EDIT: Now all the lightning deals for videogames are claimed except for Mass Effect 2 for 10 bucks, which I thought was the best deal of them all!

Let me know what you think of Gratuitous Space Battles if you do end up buying the pack. I'll admit I am tempted to just buy the pack for Gratuitous Space Battles since that would still be 75% off, the extra 4 games just sweeten the offer.

EDIT: Scratch that I bought the pack.

Well, it's almost worth that price :D Try to find AvP2 instead it's a much better game.

Exactly that is Impulse's main problem.

Saw this idea on another forum and figured I would post it here.

Since Steam (and other digital distributors) have really cheap games around Christmas what if we as a forum did a Secret Santa type of thing. We could do a signup and then have a program randomly pair up people (potentially with email confirmation) that way nobody knows who gets who. All names can be seen for the drawing but not who gets to buy for who.

Anyone be interested in something like this? If so let me know and I will get working on a program for it and we can open a new thread for it as well to get signups.

edit- Please PM me if you are interested in being entered. I will collect entries this week and if there is enough interest I will ru the contest when Steam sales start. The drawing will be random and there is no requirement you HAVE to buy if you get enetered, it is just for fun. PM me you Steam ID to get entered.

That could be interesting. I know the Steam forums usually do random giveaways and reciprocal gifting during the holiday sales, and it seems to work pretty well, although I've never participated. In true Secret Santa tradition, though, I think there should be spending limits of some kind, since chances are we're not all in the same income bracket, or even using the same currency, for that matter. ;)

...Also, if we're gifting games on Steam, doesn't Steam automagically tell you who sent you the gift? (Actually, looking at one of my old "you've received a gift!" e-mails, they do indeed tell you who sent it. Twice.) Sort of spoils the surprise. :P
