After the latest update, I was attacked by deathclaws and now my vault keeps crashing. I killed some of them, but the game is saved right before the point where the remaining ones leave. Lost a Mr. Handy and resurrected him during the attack, but can't imagine that is what caused the crash.

Do iDevices have a file explorer? In the Android version of the game there is a backup file of the vault saved in the same folder as the original save file. For example, in \com.gamesas.falloutshelter\files\ I have Vault1.sav and it's backup file vault1.sav.bkp. If the Vault1.sav file gets corrupt, you can delete it and rename Vault1.sav.bkp to be Vault1.sav. That will put you back to whatever time the backup was created. However, I don't have an iDevice to see if they do the same thing.

Im having the same issue as mimschi, ive got the new december update. Right after a deathclaw attack, my game crashed for the first time. Everytime i open the vault, it crashes when its loading. Its only this particular vault that is crashing, my 2 other vaults arent doing it(although they are much smaller) Its never crashed before, even before i updated the game. Anyways, ive tried to reinstall, with no luck. I connected the vault to the cloud save, although i did make vault backups on my windows computer. I tried to follow the steps Mr.Perfect said, but when i delete the .sav file, i cant rename the .bkp file. The game doesnt read that the second .bkp file is the new vault file, and the vault no longer showed up in the vault list. I have a samsung galaxy s5 android 5.0. Is there a different way to fix the loading issue, or am i doing something wrong? Please help me because this game is fun c:

The phone won't let you rename vault.sav.bkp to vault.sav? That's weird, mine does. Maybe try moving the .bkp file to your PC and renaming it there?

I have the same problem. After months of playing, it is the first crash i have. The game completely freezed when i sent a dweller out of the Vault. Since then, the game wont load and it freezes in the loading screen. Sometimes the game loads and then it freezes after a few secons.

I have tried using the backup file in the phone, but the problem persist. Its quite frustrating after all those months playing. I hope it is due the update and they find a fix soon...

Ive already tried that, maybe ill try again. Everytime ive done that, the .sav file just says vault3 and the .bkp file says vault3.sav

I finally figures out a way to rename the .bkp file to make the vault show up in the list, but the .bkp file seems to be just as corrupt as the original .sav file... am i still doing something wrong or would it just be easier to give up and restart a new vault?

Similar issues. Appears to be too much to load on a larger vault, at least that's my guess as I had similar crashes on a weaker tablet. Upgraded to a better tablet and all was good until last night. Now can't access over $100 of pets, Mr. HANDYS etc. Sure hope they fix it.

I've the same problem with my vault 393, during the game it close itself and I can't open it again after an attack by deathclaws. I try to uninstall and install again the game, also I try with file bks but nothing.

I can open a new vault without problems, but I'd love to have my favourite vault back

Yeah, i know how ya feel...i hope they release a new version that not only fixes this issue, but also tons of other ones. This game is really fun and if all this stuff was fixed, it would be even better

Thanks for the advice about the backup file. Sadly didn't work for me. Now it's just wait and see if they will fix it at some point. Sorry to hear others are dealing with the same problem. =(

I have had these same problems, but with mole rat attacks. Whenever mole rats attacked an empty room, the game crashed the moment the mole rats would retreat. Discovered soon after that I had a quest related to surviving mole rat attacks. Deleted the quest and the game worked fine again. Got a second mole rat quest yesterday and the same thing happened. Once again I deleted the quest, which solved the problem. Both quests would award a lunchbox. If you have a quest dealing with the reason the game crashes, try and delete that quest. Hope this helps.

I wish it was as simple as that for me. I cant even open the vault before it crashes.

You could try downloading the previous version and see if that fixes the problem. An older version can be found at apktrunk.com. Don't know this site myself though, so use with caution!

good idea. Ill give it a try... i just wonder if it would mess up the vault save going back on a update that doesnt have features that the save now has...worth a try


UPDATE: Bro you just saved my life. This actually worked! I installed the 1.2.1 apk version and installed that to my phone, then transferred the vault saves from my computer into the bethesda folder and loaded up the game and it worked perfectly!

Mmmm so bad i din't have that luck. I have tried it and it still doesn't load.

Still, i managed to load my vault by setting the time of my phone some hours before the first crash. But still, after some seconds the game crashes.

I also tried to load the vault with that method, and quickly go to the Mission menu and skip the mole mission i had, but after skip that mission, the game freezes...

Im quite out of ideas.

EDIT: Ok, somehow i managed to fix it... The steps i did were those:

- Backup my save games to PC

- Uninstall the APP v1.3

- Install the APP 1.2.1

- Set the time some hours before the crash happened

- Start the game

- The vault loads. After this, I skip the mission i think i was getting problems, which was "send 14 dweller to the wasteland"

- Save the game by exitting the game

- Set the time normal again

- The vault loads and everything seems to work fine.

Besides i still have the mole mission, i didn't skip it yet as i have to wait 1 day for it. Nevertheless, it seems the game works fine now. I won't also update the game yet, as i really lost a lot of time trying a lot of things until i got the fix... it was a pain and i guess i will wait for the next update if they fix it, even if i have to lose the cute pets

I'll give it a try... but what happens to the pets if u downgrade to 1.2.1 to restore ur save and then update to 1.3 again? just curious...

I had an active quest to survive a few deathclaw attacks as well. Sadly I can't even load the save game anymore to skip it. =(

Just go a crash in the morning and cannot open the vaults. Have to delete game and reinstall.

Finally, one of the vaults cannot be retrieved from icloud. Lucky that is not my main vault.
