I've been looking at Spike's GOTY
http://www.spike.com/events/video-game-awards-2011-nominees/voting/game-of-the-year

It appears that many people are aware of the PS3 situation with Skyrim. It really is a shame. If the game was fully functional on all platforms, then Skyrim would hands down deserve the GOTY award for Skyrim. However...if it does win, then it supports a horrible industry standard that says "it's ok to release broken, unfinished, and unplayable" products to consumers. It's shameful. I want Skyrim to win, but only if it actually worked....which it doesn't

DUDE! you say this game is "broken, unfinished, and unplayable"? Have you played EA's NHL 12 thats one [censored] up game right there. Skyrim GOTY all da way

GoTY means nothing.

GOTY means more sales.

Skyrim works great for me but it's still not my game of the year. Uncharted 3 is much better.

I dont know why people are always complaining and are so moody with the developers. This game can never end, and is hundreds of hours long with an insane amount of content. Youre getting more for your money for goodness sake. Accept the fact that a huge game like this WILL have bugs and lag.

Definite GOTY, would be horribly disappointed if it didn't win because some whinners want to blame Beth for the PS3 problems when it's really Sony's fault to begin with.

PS3 issues are not the only issues that Skyrim has had.

You know, it's like all these people have never played an Elder Scrolls game at launch. All the previous ones were very buggy, and yet they all made Game of the Year.

We know it's his personal view. He said it.

Are we honestly at the point where every post has to come with a disclaimer?

I know. There's no such thing as a game of the year, because they're all awarded based on someone's opinions, and people will always have different opinions to yours.

I liked UC3, you didn't. That doesn't mean that it can't be my GOTY.

Skyrim does not deserve GOTY,it's a bad xbox port for the PC and it really has to many bugs.As a TES game it's what we have come to expect but IMO The Witcher 2 trumps it in immersion, story and graphics plus it lacks the bugs that Skyrim has.

Sorry Bethesda..

That really wasn't necessary, and you are in the vocal minority, the silent majority have little to no issues with the PC version.

If you're willing to overlook a painfully executed UI, then yeah I suppose the PC version doesn't have anything wrong with it other than some of the development decisions that Bethesda made. You know, things like:

Spoiler
1) If you play RPGs and optimize your characters at ALL, you will end up overpowered and having to adjust the difficulty up or create self-imposed rules to maintain any sense of difficulty.
2) Cringe-inducingly short guild/faction questlines that make no difference to the rest of the game world.
3) An extremely "streamlined" (dumbed down) leveling process.
4) An extremely "streamlined" (dumbed down) magic system.
5) A main quest that doesn't change the world AT ALL from the way it is when you first enter it outside of a random line or two of dialogue.

Speak for yourself ;). I've been enjoying Skyrim bug free for a long time now, hell.. I'm on the pc. Which is supposed to be even more buggy (which I'm doubtful it is.. most of the whiners are just trolls on this forum).

Voted UC3... Skyrim doesn't deserve to win, especially after trudging through the so called "PC version".

If they had the category... "Most Overhyped Game of the Year".

Woulda voted for Skyrim in a heartbeat...

Or "Biggest Letdown of the Year"...

"Most Overhyped Game of the Year"
"Biggest Letdown of the Year"

Both of those awards go to the $60 expansion pack, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Every game has bugs because every consumer thinks the way you do.

Demand mediocrity and you'll receive nothing more.

I just checked out all the voting options for the various awards and realized that that whole thing is rigged/paid-off. There's no way in Hell that Skyrim's main theme wasn't nominated for Song of the Year. I won't be voting for anything on that website.

While I do agree that the entire thing is rigged (Minecraft shouldn't be on any voting list other than "biggest fraud of the year")...

The Skyrim Main Theme isn't really all that impressive of a piece of music. Don't get me wrong, it's fitting and it sets an epic tone... But musically, it's just some dudes grunting dragon words, some drums and some violins (or some other string/bow instrument). Definitely not something that I would want to have as an MP3 or on a CD to listen to while driving...

I've played every single Elder Scrolls game since Daggerfall. I've also played every Bethesda game to date. My complaint about Skyrim has absolutely nothing to do with bugs. In fact....I love some of the weird bugs the game has (see below). My complaint is that the game is flat out broken on the PS3. I'm not bashing Bethesda (Love their games), nor am I flaming Elder Scrolls (favorite series of all time). I'm bashing the PS3 version of Skyrim. Which I own, paid for, and can not play. I would love to play the PC version (lets face it...Elder Scrolls is best on PC due to mods), but a new comp is out of my price range.

Best weird buggy experience. I had a mage companion (Ormon?). He cast lightening at a bear. The bear flew into the air and floated away, like it happened in zero gravity. I watched it float away and followed it for a bit. Was absolutely hilarious and is my favorite experience in the game yet.
