Game of the Year? Not so fast...

Voted for Skyrim as Best RPG and GotY.

Even though it's buggy and the missing LAA on PC has cost me many nerves I can't recall any other game this year, that made me play 150+ hours in a month!

Skyrim's my GOTY. Like others have mentioned, I haven't experienced many bugs. I did run into one bugged quest, but there's so much else to do in the world I just walked away from it and haven't thought about it since.

Now, if I ran into a mission-breaking bug in a game like Uncharted or something, that would mean Game Over, because those games are linear, have only one possible main character, one story, then it's over. But in Skyrim, or any TES game for that matter, a bug or two aren't nearly as destructive as the same things would be in standard, run-of-the-mill games.

I would rather pay $60 for limitless hours of content than for one short, linear story that has no replay value. (Not talking about any game in particular there, just in general).

Definite GOTY, would be horribly disappointed if it didn't win because some whinners want to blame Beth for the PS3 problems when it's really Sony's fault to begin with.

Bethesda has an incredibly long history of failed launches. It is Bethesada's fault. And could have been avoided.

Portal 2 deserves GOTY...

Sorry but I voted for Zelda as GOTY. As much as I want to give it to Skyrim, I just can't bring myself to do it. I have over 200+ hours loggfed in as well, but it is horribly broken, but still awesome and fun as hell. But if you look at the core of the game, that is where it's flawed. The RPG mechanics are so broken it's comical. None of the guilds have substance, the civil war quest doesn't amount to crap, or change ANYTHING drastic about the environment. Also when the ONE thing this game hyped us up over is broken (dragons flying around backwards) then you have a MAJOR problem here.
I think (including myself) the reason people are putting so many hours into this game is for personal character development. Creating unique classes, and running around this gorgeous non-functioning world, looking for loot. I hate to hate, but I think Beth should not be allowed to get away with this!

Still disappointed that Bethesda chooses to focus on new geegaws over making what they have actually work right. Dissappointed that the level of character detail from previous games is gone. I think that F:NV set the bar too high in terms of writing, and Bethesda wasn't up to the challenge. They have made some strides in game stability, but they've still got a ways to go. Like I keep saying - "One step forward, two steps back." Bethesda's reach once again exceeds it's grasp. I do have a lot of minor complaints, things that could have been dealt with (and had been in prior games) but weren't. That said, there's plenty of good in Skyrim, for all it's flaws (magic svcks, vampires svck, etc) but it doesn't deserve GotY. That honor belongs to Human Revolution in my opinion.

I may be in the minority but I really, really don't feel like it deserves it. Not with all the bugs, the shallow story, lifeless characters and ridiculous restrictions on the player (Ooops, can't hurt that guy, he gives you a FETCH quest, YAY!).

It just felt like 3 steps forward 2.5 back from Oblivion in terms of almost everything. The graphics are very pretty but that's the only thing that stands out as real improvement from the game that came out over half a decade ago.

I'm sorry, while I love Skyrim... A game with this so many things wrong with it doesn't deserve GOTY. IMHO this would send Bethesda a message that it needs to catch up with the world, and should stop releasing games that aren't ready to be released because they think it would be "cool" to release it on a certain "cool" date.

11.11.11... it simply wasn't worth it. So many more things could've been added.

How is it Sony's fault? Plenty of games are released to PS3 without being completely broken.

If they couldn't work with how the PS3 is set up, then they could've just not released it on that platform. I'm pretty sure Sony didn't put a gun to their head and force them to release a game on their console.

Yea, definitely not Goty for me. Played it for about 50~100 hours then got easily bored.
The quests are soooo blaaaand.

Funny how the series won 'GOTY' multiple times yet CoD is still more popular >:D
I blame the fact that theres no Multiplayer in Elder Scrolls.

Currently I'm more interested in Mario Kart 7 to be honest.

But that has no chance of winning GOTY.

Its my GOTY, this years been a crapfest of games and letdowns. Everyone says it doesnt deserve GOTY but if you cant bring up any other suggestions then Skyward Sword, your basically arguing nothing deserves GOTY.

Skyrim is most definitely the GOTY, although this year is full of GOTY candidates.

Every game has bugs because every consumer thinks the way you do.

Demand mediocrity and you'll receive nothing more.

Well if that's what you truly think (imo your crazy or trolling) then you're as "guilty" as everyone, or else you wouldn't of bought Skyrim or any game since all or most have bugs. When you want to show what you want/demand for a product, you speak with your wallet.

Most Overhyped: MW3
Biggest Letdown: BF3

As a hardcoe BF3 fan (i've played all nine BF titles), I must agree with you. I really like the game but I feel like it could have been more.

Well I was kinda leaning towards Arkham City, it's the same kind of fun I used to have playing Zelda games and it's a really tight, polished experience.
Rocksteady are an amazing team who delivered a perfectly realised Batman adventure.

Plus I like Batman.

But I was done with it in around 50ish hours and I think that was giving it a good run.

Skyrim is the only game I've topped 100 hours with this year and I'm still playing every day.
Despite all the bugs and all the walls I've run into on quests, I still want to play every time I come home from work.

It's GoTY for me.

I hope that Bethesda appreciate the award and have an awesome night of partying. :celebration:

But to paraphrase Uncle Ben... "with great popularity comes great responsibility".
Monday morning... back to work boys and girls, justify the faith and trust put in you and make this game perfect.

I'd probably call it GoTY next year after we finally get a CK and we can fix all the PC issues. :teehee:

Still, grats Beth on your awards.
