Well I haven't read the books but 99% of the characters in the HBO series (which I've been told holds pretty true to the books) are completely despicable...Even Sean Bean's character was a coward. I think probably his son that's leading the northern armies, or the dragon chick (sorry) are the only two cool ones. Or the dwarf, even though he's a jerk.

First season, not enough time to develop the main characters. Almost every character in the book is amiable in some way, but they all have their flaws. If you think Sean Bean's character was a coward, you missed EVERYTHING about his character. He was portrayed as a man of honor, and when he went south to play politics with the queen and all the backstabbers, he couldn't keep up. It was honor vs. treachery, and Stark refused to try his hand in anything dishonorable.

I'm really running low on ideas now, but Sam Tarly and Melisandre would be possibilities. Littlefinger, too, for someone concentrating on mercantile and speechcraft.

lol good look developing a relationship with any main characters. George is NOT AT ALL scared of killing anyone off.

how much of a shock was it that sean bean was killed off? the biggest actor in the show, and the main character up to that point. then SWING/CHOP/ROLL

bai bai sean :'(

then again, Sean does have a habbit of dying before things are finished.... LotR anyone?

Definitely a http://i52.tinypic.com/349ezjq.jpg. They even have a special ability called Dragon Skin.

May wanna add a spoiler tag in case anyone hasn't read the first book/scene the first season. And to be honest, the worst event in the entire series (IMO) happens in ASOS. A certain wedding...

ehhh... she doesnt LOOK like a breton though.... the actor has high cheekbones, pale skin... i suppose if you messed around with it long enough... even so... i cant imagine what her skills would be... speechcraft yes, but what else? she uses her dragons and those around her to fight.... she does very little herself (even though i <3 her)

I just finished that part the night before last. I somewhat expected it because everything seemed to be going too perfect. However, I was not at all prepared for what happened to (Do not click if you don't want to be spoiled)
Spoiler
Arya. I expected the hound to grab her up and make an escape like he did with Sansa... But no. He just planted an axe in the back of her head.

I'm a little bit ahead of you then. Without ruining it for you, just keep on reading. It'll take some of the sting of the RW away.

Khal Drogo's no honorable warrior. He leads a pack of crazed monstrous horseman who plunder and [censored] and slave at will when they pass by villages. Though I agree it'd be strange seeing a thief character named Khal Drogo, especially because 'Khal' is dothraki for 'King'

Anyway, Rhaegar Targaryen would be an ideal character. Specialize him in speech-craft and personality/charisma, make him really good with a sword and bow, heavy armor, etc.

If spears were in, my first character would be Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper. Alchemy and spears.

john snow, the only honorable one of the lot.
his only offense is giving a 10 year old a weapon :D
and its hard for me to rp a character from a series thats so...tame. i understand its low fantasy like elder scrolls. but at least tes has some real tangible magical elements and its threats are far more real as well.

anyway, to play a character LIKE john snow is always my ambition, because were alot alike...the bastard part at least :)

Very true. Most of the story in the series revolves around a bunch of greedy and ambitious people squabbling over rights to a throne, while greater threats (dragon invasion and undead snowmen) are on the horizon.

That's part of the story, IMO. How nobody really knows that them arguing over who sits on the throne even matters. Winter is coming (or here, if you finished DWD)

Heh, just make sure you avoid any and all Westerlings. That road doesn't end well.

Hm? That bit about the Westerlings is hardly a spoiler. No one who hasn't gotten that far in the books will even get the reference.

A Westerling kills Robb Stark at a wedding.

...Actually not even close.

Spoiler

Robb was already set to marry a Frey woman because of a deal he'd agreed to earlier. However, after taking The Crag (a castle belonging to the Westerlings), he took an arrow in the arm. During all of this he received knews that his two little brothers had been killed by his best friend. Long and short of it is, because of his grief he banged Jeyne Westerling, meaning he then had to marry her to preserve her honor.

The Freys didn't take too kindly to this and, after an agreement in which Robb's uncle Edmure would marry one of Frey's daughters, Robb and his entourage were invited to dine at the wedding feast. Turns out it was a trap, nearly everybody with Robb died a bloody death him included.

So...as you can see you got some bad info.

Not to metion....

Spoiler
The Westerlings, while responsible for the events leading to his death, had little to do with it. Tywin Lannister coordinated the whole thing with Walder Frey and Roose Bolton.

It was Roose Bolton, a northman and bannerman to the Starks, who killed Robb.
