Game of Thrones

Thanks for the reply. Just found a mod featuring the "Long Claw" sword that's apparently given to Jon Snow for Oblivion so that'll go great with my character. May have to delve into the books during the down time between episodes to get my "Thrones" fix.

the throne is made of iron blades. too many kings had cut himself on that seat, beware.

Wow, really? That's insanely hardcoe. Not gonna find something like that in "Middle Earth".

Is it just me who've considered the issue with a second season?

[THIS SPOILER IS MASSIVE, IF YOU HAVEN'T READ GAME OF THRONES DON'T PRESS]
Spoiler

Sean Bean is pretty much the only major name in the series, so who'll make a fitting poster boy once Eddard is killed? Are their plan that Bean would draw initial attention and then, once the series was established, it would manage without him? Just as they've hyped the name of the series, they've hyped Bean quite a bit as well.

In any case, it'll be interesting seeing people's reaction once that episode rolls in :chaos:

My guess, Tyrion. Dinklage is decently well known, and the character is both very popular and in the center of the CoK storyline.

I am loving this show so far, been a while since I read the books, but seems to be doing quite well in sticking to everything. The actors are doing a great job as well, Peter Dinklage exspecially is doing a great job as Tyrion, so far my top charecter in the show. Even though I read the books I still can't wait to see what goes down in the next episode.

I never read the books, although I'm familiar with them. I just finished watching the first three episodes. I was hooked within the first ten minutes. I remember seeing the previews on HBO awhile back, and I thought it looked pretty good. I never gave it much thought afterwards though. The buzz made me check it out, and I'm glad I did.

Anyone know where I can catch the episodes here in Blighty? I recently saw an article on it in Empire (or Total Film, I forgot) and the tagline was 'Its LOTR but with more six'.

In that case, I'm in :celebration:

Yup, Monday at 9pm. They seem to be repeating the episodes quite a bit too, so you might be able to catch the first three.

Good thing I havn't read the books, imo, the series seem to be made well enough for me to understand what is going on. Loved the first part. :disco:

Yeah I've watched all the episodes so far. It's decent, but not much in the way of character development, honestly.

I just watched the first 6 episodes of The Borgias yesterday

What a brilliant show! I got bored with the Tudors after a few episodes, but I can see myself becoming a massive fan of the Borgias.

The writing and art direction is magnificent, and what an awesome cast - awe inspiring performances across the board. Especially Jeremy Irons.

The real life history of the Borgias and the Medicis probably had some influence on GRRM's work.

Interesting to note that this week they are marrying off young Prince Joffrey Borgia to Princess Shansa.

I feel your pain. I don't have HBO, Showtime, Starz or any cable service at all. Actually I don't even have an antenna for my 1080p projector, so I can't watch broadcast television either.

All of these networks should really offer some kind of subscription based digital streaming service that doesn't require you to get cable.

Sorry for this nooby question, but I just got into the show about a week ago and I've been watching episodes off of Fios on Demand:
How many episodes have there been? I've only seen the first 3 and I don't want to spoil something by watching it tonight if I've missed an episode

Well I believe all of them besides HBO have a deal with Netflix.

What I mean is a service that can provide the episodes day and date with the broadcast date. Most programming doesn't become available for streaming on Netflix until much later.

If there are people willing to pay $10 or 20 on top of their monthly cable bill for premium channels like HBO, showtime, starz, etc...

Then there are many more who would be willing to pay $5-10 monthly directly to the network for a subscription to watch all their shows via digital streaming on demand, without having to go through Time Warner or some other cable carrier.

These networks are missing out on many potential customers who would be willing to pay to watch something day and date, but instead wind up watching a pirated version. Imagine the potential revenue for subscriptions from overseas viewers who would be willing to pay HBO directly instead of their local cable carrier, for example.

Snip

Yeah, better than Tudors IMO. Less soap opera and more period piece drama.

HBOGO is the app. You can access online from your browser as well. You have to be a subscriber though, and it will ask you which cable/satellite provider you get HBO on in order to use it.
