So last Sunday the first episode premiered but I just got to watch it today. It seems to have some promise and interesting plot and characters.Thoughts anybody, have you seen it or are you planning on watching it?

Loved it. Can't wait for next Sunday to roll around.

Have you read all of the novels yet?

BTW there is a thread about this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1169061-new-hd-featurette-released-for-game-of-thrones-song-of-ice-and-fire/&__sf=1303346151

I loved the first episode, not reading the books though because I don't want to turn into a nitpicker. "hey his hair should be red!"

Hair colouring aside, I found the first episode to be surprisingly faithful to the books. Most of the characters are a bit older on the show than in the books though, but I guess that's to get around the possible controversy of showing very young people having six and the like.

I really enjoyed the first episode. My girlfriend did also, and she has never read any of the books.

Ive seen most of the HBO and Showtime original series and programs all the way back since Fraggle rock. I think that GOT has some of the best production value and acting Ive seen in a HBO series. Id put Sopranos at the top, with Boardwalk and GOT neck and neck for second HBO wise. It helps that RR Martins plot and story is actually damn good as well. when you have a good story, good set and wardrobe design and your actors execute, then your set up for success.

I'd put Band of Brothers ahead of GOT but behind The Sopranos. Haven't seen Boardwalk Empire yet.

It was amazing. I admit I haven't read the books, although I plan to read the first one before the series is over.

Band of Brothers was a mini series, not a series series. Although I agree that it was excellent and IMO better than The Pacific.

I watched the show, and I really enjoy it, which prompted me to get the books which I now enjoy even more. I can't go to sleep at night without reading at least 100 pages, truly a good series. George R. R. Martin is the American Tolkein, I must say.

Am I the only one that thought Mark Addy was American from the show Still Standing?

The show is great. Some of the best production value of a series.

What is it about, generally? And is there a lot of six scenes(don't get it twisted, I'm not looking for a pormo, just young eyes may be watching)?

haven't heard of the books. do they go by the same name?

There is a decent amount of six in it, after all its HBO.

The Book is Game of Thrones, the series is A Song of Ice and Fire. Just watch it, its great, although there's a lot of characters to keep track of. Its easier if you read up on the prelude to A Game of Thrones. Actually reading the Game of Throes synopsis from the book will spoil it for people that dont know the series though. I actually read one of the other books, but never read Game of Thrones, so what Im seeing is new, but makes sense since I read A Clash of Kings. Its part of a seven book series, which has only had 4 books, with the 5th coming out in July of this year.

HBO has already picked up a second season, which will be based on the second book and will probably be called A Clash of Kings. If its still big, they could make a series for every book.

They'll probably drop the "A" in the title though. The book is called A Game of Thrones, but the series is simply Game of Thrones. I'd expect the novel A Clash of Kings to simply become Clash of Kings.

I also hear that there is an RPG for the series. Anyone know if it's any good?

are you talking about the PnP game or http://www.agot-genesis.com/?

regarding the name of the series, my guess is that they will stick with Game of Thrones, for all potential 5 or 6 seasons of the show, considering the huge brand marketing investment they have already done to raise awareness for this title among viewers.

For the Sookie Stackhouse novels, for example, they went with "True Blood" for the entire show, even though it is based on several novels.

:ahhh: I guess I'll finish the series, then? if it's a good representation of the books, I would enjoy reading them more after.

Sounds like this could go for a while.

oh, and I hope no one takes that post you quoted the wrong way. I was saying "lol" at the fact I should have figured it was going to have at least some six scenes, it being HBO and all.
