In-game Travel

See, that's where you're likely wrong. These sorts of fast travel methods I feel are pretty much included entirely for the people who want to quickly get around the map, yet don't want to break immersion by opening their map and magically zipping to and from locations. So an animation probably wouldn't phase them at all, they'd probably appreciate a several second animation each time, actually.

For the people who just want quick, instant travel they just use the traditional map method.

Yes! I would love to see something like a mutated squidman or something!

Fast travel is allways a good option.

I do know that when being transported in a vertibird (with your power armor if needed) their is no fade to black, you will go to a set destination OR you can land somewhere beforehand (or even jump off if your that extreme).

I think they're going to be more like the carriage system in that they will only pick you up at set locations, and take you to set locations.

Otherwise, that pilot is going to be awfully confused when I ask for a lift to the place I'm already standing, so my follower will catch up and/or get unstuck from geometry.

If Virtibirds are the fast travel system then I assume that there'd be some quests that you have to complete to gain access to it.

Indeed there should be. I suspect we will have a less flashy option until such time as said quests are completed.

Similar to Skyrim, I'm sure there will be some sort of penalty for extensive use of fast traveling like raiders firing nukes at your vertibird or a friendly welcoming party consisting of deathclaws or behemoths waiting to greet you at the landing site.

So annoying when you get to a place after fast traveling and Vampires or a Dragon proceed to see how many NPCs they can kill until I or the guards stop them.

My workaround for Skyrim was to cast a flame atronach just before I walk into any city, even after fast traveling to a nearby location. The closest thing to an armed bodyguard with ranged attacks and more reliable than the goofy AI companions.

Power armor jet pack consider as one of the travel method?

I am under the impression that the "jet pack" is more of a "jump jet" to help with mobility around the battlefield. I doubt we will be able to use it "Iron Man style" and fly across the map. I could be wrong though, I'd love to make like Boba Fett and rain down death on fools while hovering over them!
