Game unbearable to play

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:55 pm

I do not understand why the game is so glitchy I updated my drivers and I did play around with some of the Catalyst controls to try and make it bearable to play but still no luck.

Pc specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

Memory: 8192MB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series 2 Crossfire

same here. Once i got into the main city i decided to stop playing. Choppy frame drops make it very difficult to aim. done trying to mess around with ini files and changing/tweaking graphics too. hope they patch it soon been waiting over a week

At what resolution do you play?

Has your GPU 1GB of ram?

Keep in mimd people, those GPUs are old. Release date 2009. So, i guess that's understandable (more or less).

Also the AMD Phenom II X4 965 GPU is nothing to wtite about.

With the above CPU and an HD5770 1GB you just meet the min. req.

Hardwares closer to that line (especially older ones) can or can not play the game as intended. !!!

Under the minimum on the GPU by quite a bit as well. Even at low settings and low resolution it might have a hard time keeping up.

The 5700 is a pretty old card. Furthermore, Crossfire isn't supported at this time, so you should disable it before playing. Given your old middle-level GPU and so-so processor, turn your settings down and set your resolution at an equivalent to 720p max.

Your total GPU memory is not even half of that. Your system memory may... ;)

So both AMD 5700 series cards have a maximum of 1 GB of memory. This game requires 2 GB minimum. When you're doing Crossfire, the VRAM is mirrored, so even if you have 4 video cards, each with 1 GB of memory, the game only has access to put up to 1 GB of files onto VRAM. Simply, you have half the VRAM of the minimum requirements to play the game.

The GPUs take alternating turns rendering each frame. You get more speed, though depending on the game it doesn't always scale the same.

The load will be divided through those two GPUs and thus increasing the overall performance of a game. However as those processors working independently they having their own memory pool.

So the memory will not sum up. But because there are working two processors inside the PCB (instead of one) the performance will be faster.

It's let's say a dual core processor against a single core processor.

That works in most cases through AFR. So each GPU processor renders a whole frame one at a time, one after the other.

In a best-case scenario such a configuration maybe be 80% faster than a single card. In a worst-case scenario it may actually be slower.

The issue with the Geforce 9XX series is a separate one, but a known one. My GTX760 is currently running the game way way better than your 980.

Well, first thing I'd check is what Windows is doing while you're trying to play the game. One of the really consistent framerate-killing problems I run into is Windows firing up a high-demand background process right in the middle of a gaming session. If this happens in Fallout 4, my framerate drops from 55-60 down to 5-12 FPS. I've found that by http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1544320-incredibly-poor-performance-unoptimised/?p=24549666, I can keep a decent framerate.
