The Bethstore won't ship to the UK (internationally?). So they need overseas supply chains. As far as I am aware Fallout 4 is available in many stores, bricks and mortar and online,in the UK, it is only the Pop-Boy Edition that is Game exclusive.
Yeah I'm only talking about the pipboy itself rather than Fallout 4 or the pipboy edition, I've no interest in the hunk of plastic really......but other people seem to be willing to splash out 拢40-50 on it.
Fallout 4 is going to be widely available, the only question is will there be any exclusive preorder DLC, which is often exclusive to Game as well.
I was going to do the same (yeah, I got stung by the ME3 CE as well). Unfortunately Game have got an armlock on a lot of the special and collectors editions which is annoying. The only seller in the UK with the Pip-Boy edition is Game (well, other than the damned ebay scalpers that is) so you have to buy from Game if you want one.
My problem with Game is them selling multiple copies of extremely limited editions. It's obvious that if you are buying 9 copies that it's to sell the darn things on at inflated prices (and yeah... they are on frickin' ebay for 2.5x the original sale price). Fans who want to buy the items at the CORRECT price are getting the shaft.
Edit: Oh yeah, FYI OP, my pre-order is still valid so your post title is misleading.
Side note on Game, you apparently now have to give them a 拢10.00 deposit, so my Fallout 4 from Amazon was both cheaper and didn't need a deposit...on the negative Amazon do have the habit of sending out preorder games the day before.
Did those preordering the pipboy edition have to pay the 拢10.00 deposit?
I wonder why the standard edition needs a deposit, since they don't apparently feel the need for other games that are available for pre-ordering.
I just wouldn't trust Game with a preorder deposit.
Game UK were very keen to withhold to UK and one per person.
This statement was linked from the pre-order information:
"Can I order the Pip-Boy Edition internationally?
The weight of the Pip Boy Edition exceeds 1kg and thus cannot be shipped internationally. Any orders for this to an international shipping address will be subsequently cancelled. Orders must be sent to a valid UK Shipping Address, and cannot be shipped to a mail forwarding address or a P.O Box. This information can be seen in our Terms and Conditions that are agreed to upon placing an order with GAME.
How many Pip-Boy Edition's can be ordered at one time?
Due to the strict availability of these editions, orders on or after Friday 3rd July will be limited to one-per-order and any orders after this date containing more than one Pip-Boy Edition will be subsequently cancelled. Orders prior to this date containing several or many Pip-Boy Editions will be reviewed."
If Game were limiting it to 1 per customer and they were the ONLY Pip-Boy edition suppliers in the UK then how the heck did this guy get a whole bunch....

He had 3 of each format when I looked earlier today.
He's currently doing nothing but sell Pip-Boy Editions.
From above: "Due to the strict availability of these editions, orders on or after Friday 3rd July will be limited to one-per-order and any orders after this date containing more than one Pip-Boy Edition will be subsequently cancelled. Orders prior to this date containing several or many Pip-Boy Editions will be reviewed."
He may have his pre-order cancelled or reduced if his order is reviewed. He also might have ordered several through different names/accounts, or used multiple proxy buyers to get his hands on more units without arousing suspicion.
It's always risky to buy something on E-Bay when you know that the seller doesn't actually have the item in hand. I believe it's also against the rules of E-Bay.
It is if you want to play the game on the day of release, they tend to send them out first class and while its possible to get them the next day, Royal Mail First Class is not next day delivery.......especially if they do not send it out until the late afternoon/early evening. Which they have done to me on several occasions.
Buying them from an Ebay seller your essentially paying (usually above) full price to get an item that the seller has no physical control over, Game may send out all of his/her orders or they may cancel them.....so yeah, not the best idea.
I see Game UK have sold out.
5 1/2 hours of web issues dealing with the traffic.
1hr 50m actual working sales window (I wonder how many were sold)
and gone.
When I first read the original post, I was chalking this up as another GAME being sketchy story just like the scads I've heard over the years. It really would have cleared things up had they put up a notice in the first place stating that due to high demand and limited quantities that the Pip-Boy Edition was going to be limited to UK residents only. And I do agree with you that buying from an Ebay seller isn't the best idea in this case. As far as being against Ebay's rules, I'm not sure but I do know after they had people selling Wii boxes with people thinking they were buying actual Wiis, they did implement some sort of rules at least as far as how one can list things.
Watching this entire frenzy over the Pip-Boy edition is reminding me of the Cabbage Patch doll insanity from when I was a kid.
Did you read their policies and terms and conditions? You know, the stuff everyone should read about a website before purchasing anything through them?
I can understand people skipping that stuff in an update, but when you're about to drop over a hundred dollars on something...
Yes I did read their policies and ToC, my going to look at what was said on their website was to rebut some comments that had been made that GAME was strictly a UK residents only retailer when it's clearly not the case. GAME's perfectly fine to cancel or alter what orders are placed with them according to their rules, it's just they could've done a better job notifying and clarifying in this situation unless they're in the habit of regularly doing this with any game ordered through them.
Maybe it's just different across the pond, but I would never expect to get things from a .uk site living outside the UK. At least not highly coveted items that are selling out nearly instantaneously. Hell, I don't even import things that I can't get from anywhere Stateside from Amazon.ca because I don't want to deal with any of the hassle, extra fees, and so on.
Nobody is claiming that Game is a UK resident only retailer.....but the fact is that Game is (was) the only UK stockist of the limited stock pipboy edition and that stock was meant for UK residents.
They are already listed on Ebay at ?00. So good luck
i will just download the app and put my phone on a stand near the PC. I doubt I will get a CE pip boy as I am at work all day and missed the tweet.
Probably get the game through steam now.
Believe me, there are many in the same boat. The only reason I managed to get one this morning is that I persisted for nearly three hours, but the website was utter chaos. For those who didn't get one, I think that the app is going to have a lot more lasting appeal than the actual Pip-Boy itself. Especially as it interacts with the game in real-time, which is pretty awesome
I was lucky and found a Danish site which had some xbox versions left and ordered one of those. I don't even own a damn xbox.
I had to get the xbox version as well!
For those who missed out, I would imagine that a number of these will eventually end up being traded in, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.
