Sorry to say this... but I don't think Gstaff or any bethesda devs ever watch or reply on this forum. After my experience (lurking on these forum for many years), getting in contact or any kind of discussion with a dev working at Bethesda is as likely as a hobo living in San Fransisco during the cold war with Russia, would cross the country - swim across the atlantic ocean - travel across Europe - enter Russia - and find his soulmate in the siberian wastes. Naked. Broke. Blind. With an amputated foot.
Gstaff seem to grace us with his presence every full-moon, but he doesent partake in any community discussion on the forums for any common topics either as far as I can tell. Which ofcourse makes it hillarious to watch E3 this year. I love Bethesda and Todd Howard, but Todd talking about "Communicating with the community" is probably the fattest lie I've seen ever. Todd Howard and the rest of the devs most likely have "Participating on the forums with the community" at the top of their "opposite bucket-list" (as to what to do LAST in life).
Note that I'm not saying other devs are better at "hanging out" or discussing stuff with the community. But Bethesda's "non-existant-presence" policy with the community is pretty much set in stone as far as I can see. If you really want to get through with this, you might have a 1 in 1000 shot in attaining a line of communication with G-staff. And a 1 in a million chance of getting a reply on twitter.
Quote from GameUK's terms and Conditions
Due to customs, legal, regulatory and certain practical restrictions applicable to orders placed for non-UK deliveries, some of our products may not be available for delivery to certain destinations outside of the UK. We reserve the right to define what can and cannot be delivered to destinations outside of the UK.
Are you sure this is not a UK only deal? Because its exclusive to game, You asked for it to be delivered to Leeds yes, but then decided to tell people on their very own fallout club? Like it say's they Reserve the right to do this, and if their call centre is like many i have to deal with everyday at work then most of time staff leave and join so often, most don't have the slightest clue about their own terms of use.
Yeah I stopped using Game a while back after that whole ME3 nonsense. They have never been the same after going into administration. Thats what you get for being greedy though.
I just can't understand all the trouble for a Pipboy edition with the game. Sure it's nice to have all the extra stuff you get but if it takes so much trouble why not buy the regular copy of the game, after all that's what its all about:)
also I remember when games sold regular editions, special editions (pre-order editions) and the limited edition. I think this would have solved more issues with the people not being able to get the limited edition because they could get the special edition instead.
On one hand, yeah it svcks, but look at it this way. As a UK based store, they are prioritizing UK customers with regards to a limited supply item, hardly a surprise and I'd fully expect the same if you were a trying to order from a US based company and they chose to prioritize US based customers.
Think of the PR issues if no one from the UK was able to get their order because all the Pipboy editions had gone overseas.
It's nothing new, lots of stores do it. Not saying its right, but it happens.
This, I'm probably going to buy it and as a UK citizen shouldn't I be of priority for goods situated in the UK?
Though as reactive reaper said, a special edition in conjunction with the limited edition would have assuaged some of the current problems.
I'm surprised they're doing this to Europeans. Rest of world I could understand. But there is supposedly a common market in the EU. Free movement of people, goods and services. If the OP is not in an EU member state, again, fair enough to GAME. But one poster said they were from Germany (one of the more prominent EU members and probably the most economically powerful) and they're not getting theirs. So why limit them to the Motherland?
I kind of feel bad now that I ordered my Limited Edition Borderlands 2 from Amazon Germany. And received it with no problems in England on release day.
There is probably a separate inventory for the continental EU. Does GAME operate locally in the EU? If so, they probably have regional restrictions due to the limited nature of the stock. Bethesda has doled out a set quantity for each region, and they are meant to be sold to customers in those regions.
EDIT: From Bethblog: "We are still working out details on final inventory for European territories and expect to have information early next week. As we receive new information, we'll update in real-time on our Twitter account, @bethblog."
So EU inventory is still coming, you will likely get your chance to pre-order your Plastic Bracelet Edition from a retailer in your territory.
They decided to spare you a buyer-remorse flavored disappointment, OP. Be thankful!
Yeah I'm not really understanding the outrage in this thread at all.
The vendor made it fairly clear before that they weren't shipping out of country and were prioritizing UK orders (as it should be). I would assume that they automatically cancel orders with out-of-country payments regardless of address.
If I wanted to order the pipboy edition here from a U.S. based store and wasn't able to because all the orders were bought out by other countries, I would be pretty upset. I think GAME is in the right with this one by prioritizing domestic orders. I don't see this as a matter of discrimination at all
Seems very excessive to try and make this a public matter based on discrimination or whatever reasoning. I don't think any proof of bad business practices has been displayed either, unless I'm missing something? (Not saying people don't have the right to voice their problem, just stating my opinion on the matter)
Or has any input or influence over.....expecting this post to do anything about the situation is rather naive.
I'd say a strongly worded email to GAMES.UK is the proper channels here. Bethesda cannot be held responsible for or be expected to influence the actions of a company in their distribution channel.
Also, I do believe the OPs title is 100% false....they did not cancel all orders, just those that originated from outside the UK.
Rake in the cash? Ripped off?
Do I misunderstand things here, even if they had taken the cash for the pre-order, the full value would have been refunded. If the cash isn't taken until the order is ready, again, no money is kept by Game.
How exactly then have people been ripped off?
If they cancelled orders, then they most likely refunded the money. It ain't like they took their money and gave them nothing in return. The order was just that: Cancelled.
In fact, if people deigned to read their terms and conditions, then they wouldn't be having this issue. Their terms and conditions explicitly states the weight limit and shipping limitations, as well as refund policy. GAME did not steal anyone's money and they did not use bad business practices.
People are just upset and falsely accusing the company, when in fact it is their own fault and responsibility.
Buy it somewhere else then? The pip-boy versions of the game in the GAME UK store are ordered from suppliers and meant for sale in the UK, just like the ones ordered in USA stores are ordered from the suppliers with the intentions of people buying them within USA. Buy it from your own damn country.
Well that's what they call tough [censored] then I'm afraid.
The last game I attempted to purchase off Game.UK was Fallout New Vegas, they then had their almost collapse and I've never bought anything from them since.
On the OP, while I feel some sympathy for those non UK gamers who had their orders cancelled it does mean that actual UK gamers will be able to get their pipboy editions rather than the stock set aside for the UK being purchased by those outside the UK.
Personally I'm not that interested in the pipboy edition, as its basically a plastic phone holder......I expect a lot of buyer remorse and complaints of cheap plastic to fill the forum once people actually get to see the actual product.
EXACTLY. The pip-boy orders in stock in UK stores are for people in the UK.
