Game will not launch after 1.3 : V

Game is not launching anymore. Steam launches the launch screen (pardon the redundancy), but when I click "Play" it just refreshes itself and nothing happens. There is nothing downloading in Steam. Help?

Library, Right click Skyrim, Properties, Local Files, Verify. Try that

Tried removing your INI files and letting the game create new ones?

EDIT. Oh and remove any mods you had installed..

No mods. Never had any. And where is that .ini file?

Well if you never edited your INI files mate then will be no need to delete them.

I cant think of anything else really, short of a complete re-install

It's in your Documents and Settings directory.

Well, now it has decided it wants to download something. Maybe its the patch I didn't have. IMO, patch should download automatically (that IS my setting), not having to navigate to some obscure menu in steam to "verify" it in order to download.

Edit: After the patch, it works. Thanks for directing me to that verify menu!

Aye, there will be a lot of people DL'ing it now though so maybe it releases it in a sequence or something to ease some strain on the servers.

I assumed you were already patched as you stated in the title.

Have the exact same problem. Skyrim didn't want to launch. And suddenly it started to download something (after Library, Right click Skyrim, Properties, Local Files, Verify = Everything OK). Now the download progress is on 1% (which it has been the last 10 minutes)... Crossing fingers that it will DL completely (and soon...)

Edit: It is not DL anything at the moment. It is Validating: 1% Anyone know what's up (completely new to Steam)

Edit 2: Have restarted the Library, Right click Skyrim, Properties, Local Files, Verify and there now seems to be some progress! And: All files successfully validated. And now! It DL's (probably the patch) and I am up to 15%... :-)

That's fine - it's going to check through all the Skyrim files that they match what should be installed and aren't corrupted. That'll take a while, if it finds any problems it'll redownload only the files it needs to to fix the problem. Smart really.

I started the Library-Validate procedure again, and this time it went fast. Furthermore, it started to DL the patch which is currently on 80% progress.

Maybe someone could get this post moved to Tech support instead of in General Discussion (or make someone aware of this so that the Sticky info on 1.3 over there could reflect this problem (which it turned out was not a problem at all).
