Game will not start after hitting play in the launcher

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:51 pm

i don't know what went wrong but I've been able to play fallout 4 for about 2 weeks now and nothing like this ever happened until today. i was playing and then my computer suddenly crashed, this wasn't really a surprise cause it'd usually crash from time to time whenever i played the game. so i go back to load up the game again after my computer reset all of a sudden it now wont let me even get past the launcher. i hit play, it says through steam "now starting fallout 4", then it boots up the launcher again. i tried this over and over and it got to a point where i just stopped trying to get the game to run and just took a break from it. i tried updating my drivers, opting to the beta version (the choice wasn't even available to me so even if i wanted to i couldn't), and I've tried setting it to windowed border less but it was all to no avail. if anyone could hep i would appreciate it so much
my specs:
OS:Windows 10
Processor: AMD FX™-6300 Six-Core Processor 3.50 GHz
RAM: 8GB
System Type: 64 Bit OS

What's your GPU? You haven't listed that.

I had the same problem. After pressing play at the loading screen that has option, support etc. I would press play, screen goes black for a second then FO4 closes outright without any evidence.

To get it to work try going to your Windows program compatability troubleshooter. click next to show the list of programs.. FO4 wasnt there for me. select the one that says "not listed"

on the browser navigate to your steam folder in program files, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout this was my location. select the main program, not the launcher. then run the compatability troubleshooter on it. use its fix. if its not that one then try the launcher on in the same spot. this worked for me!
