Game wont launch, losing hope :

Post » Mon Jul 06, 2015 12:29 am

Hey everyone, just recently got a new PC (windows 7 64 bit) and of course - installing skyrim and playing it was the biggest dream! To spare you the talk now, I got the game on steam and the problem is, I can't get further than the launcher. I get the launcher to open but when I press "play" the launcher closes and nothing happens afterwards. Like if it launched the game...Except that it doesn't.

I tried doing it manually through the game folder aswell and same thing happens. The only time I atleast get an error message is when I try to launch it directly from TESV.exe at that point it says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application".

Here's a big list of things I've already tried doing:

1. Reinstalled .net framework, visual c++ thingines

2. Performed a disk repair check

3. Replaced dll files in both win 32 and 64 folders

4. Tried reinstalling game

5. Verifying integrity of game cache

6. Checked whether my direct X is up-to-date (it is)

7. Tried running as admin

I'm completely lost at this point. My computer is only few days old and it's good enough to run 2 skyrims on Ultra I dare-say.

Given all the things I tried, I'm already giving up but I kind of don't want to give up if you know what I mean!

Anyways, I'm begging for help here!

Did you create a shortcut for Skyrim via Steam (right click on Skyrim in your Game Library then select the "Create a shortcut" command) after the game has finished the installation?

Does the Skyrim folder exist here? C:\Users\Nathan\Documents\My Games\

Is it empty? Should be SKyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini at least.

See what steps you have done so far, and what not.

However, having those problems is far from normal.

Have you updated Windows 7 SP1 through the Windows update in control panel ???

Have you tried installing SKSE and launching via that? It bypasses the Steam launcher. Could be Steam complaining rather than TESV.exe
