Using that logic, there should be many threads warning people about fake information. Not to mention that there have been previous threads with fake information that weren't duplicated, because the first one was locked.

Let me put it another way.

If Pete issues a tweet today stating

"There are no Romances in Skyrim"

Isn't that worthy of discussion on this forum?

There have been many threads locked with fake information because they are claiming the fake info is true.

I was pretty clear in the OP that I have serious doubts about it and obviously I will modify the OP with any official repudiation of the article from a Beth employee, in which case the thread would become more about a confirmation of no romance in skyrim.

I don't know, maybe because the formula is getting stale? Aside from "because it works", why would you want to tread over the same ground of Morrowind and Oblivion? The Elder Scrolls needs more depth. Naive attitudes like yours is the reason some games never reach their full potential.

I believe it's because the person is a conservative. If not, the person sure sounds like one. I agree with your point of view even though I'm not big on romance in video games. Some new additions to a formula that is getting stale, if done right, tends to generate more benefits than downfalls.

I hope that the romances are a-lot more fleshed out.. If they are in they better not be like Fable, Fable it took you about 1 minute to be married and have a kid.lol Similarly is Biowares romances, because of linearity their romances appear to be fleshed out but honestly their dialogue for the romance stuff seemed more suited for a pormo.lol It's like a one liner followed up with a six scene to showing your character behaving like nothing happened.lol Although I hope that Skyrim, if romances are in then I hope they are better then the aforementioned in my post.

If romance truly wasn't in the game, a developer would have denied this a long time ago. Even Nick Breckon chose not to deny this.

Since they are still playing around with a lot of different possible elements, they are probably in a difficult position.

If they say yes, but since this is early pre-alpha build it might disappear in release and people will complain.

if they say no, but later decide to add it, people will complain.

if they say no comment, people will complain.

As I said, I'm all for some flirtation because who wouldn't like to be told they are hot in between dragon battles? I wouldn't care about much more than that or cutscenes that took me out of the gameplay.

I was watching one of the Youtube videos on Luke Skyrimmer's account (it's in his sig) and Todd says that they're trying to get a LOT of companions but at the sacrifice that they have less depth. They don't have backstories and stuff. But he did say that some still would. So it sounds like we'll have those couple important companions and then a bunch of mercenaries or something.

I hope they're at least as in depth as the ones in New Vegas. A romance wouldn't work with a character who has no depth, who's just there because you hired them.

There's one problem, this eats into content that could be used for something else. For all the people that complain that Spears aren't in the game what if this feature screws them out of them getting their weapon back or Werewolves.

If you look at all the articles on their site, some of them are clearly accurate.

This is not the Onion or some parody website. The statement about romances in skyrim might be inaccurate, but it is not a fake satire article.

And how can we know for certain whether this statement is accurate or wrong until we get some official confirmation from Bethesda?

The problem is that different people consider different features as "waste". I for one think horses are superfluous. But in the end, more content is always good, so I'm not complaining.
