Gameboy Advance

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:03 am

So just a few hours ago I went to my local Gamestop to buy a Gameboy Advance SP (the small one with the folding screen) and a flier I saw when I walked in said that as of April 3rd Gamestop (at least in the U.S.) will stop selling or buying Gameboy Advances and Gameboy advance games on account of the fact that they are becoming a collectors item. My question is why do they stop selling or buying them if they claim they are becoming collectors items? Isnt that more reason to have them?

Oh, and in case you're wondering I got the last SP at the Gamestop for $25 pretty good shape, now to dig out my bag of games.

If you want a collector handheld as in for an investment, I'd go with a low energy req. with good collection of games to go with it.

Game stores in the US still sell Game Boys? Here you can barely buy PS2 games.

It means they won't carry outdated crap that takes up retail space anymore, that is all... Prices will still stay the same unless some sort of time paradox happens.

Hmmm

My sister might still have hers if it hasn't disappeared into the black abyss that is her mess of a room

I wonder how valuable Game Boy Micros are going to be. I think they are already pretty rare as it is. I would love to own one just for the novelty of it.

hmm interesting

Have the original GB color, and the limited edition yellow GBC that came with that yellow pokemon cartridge game. Also have the GBA that came with the earphones, cartridge case, and that see through icicle color. The weird part is on the back of mine it says model number AGB-001.

Who would want to collect a handheld as primitive as a Gameboy?

I think the proper question is, who doesn't still HAVE their Gameboy?

If you got rid of yours, you betrayed it! After all those years together! How could you do that? :cold:

I stopped playing it several years ago, however, my sister has been playing Pokemon games with it, but I don't think she knows that there's an actual story to the game. I think she's just wandering around getting into battles with wild Pokemon.

I got good use out of it though. In one of those Pokemon games I caught all of them and had them all up to level 99.

I still have an unused GB from 1991 lying around here, somewhere. Never opened the box, it's still in its plastic wrapping. Pa always ordered two consoles back then, to more easily replace one. The Gameboy never failed, so... Yeah.
Anyone know what that thing is worth? ^_^

Oh, come on. You both know Red's where it's at.

My GBC and SP are sitting on my dresser. I recently unearthed a bunch of GBA and GBC games, including Metroid II. I have no idea of what my brother did with his GBA. Methinks it's in his room somewhere.

Not much of a collectors item as so many were made and bought but if you mean gba instead of gba sp the gba will probably be a collectors item within the next 10 years.
