Hi all , ive come rushing on here to get help due to what i think is a serious bug.

Im a few hours in to this wonderful game on the PS4 and have hit a problem with the building functions.

Im on the sanctuary mission and i cant place any furniture or floors.

I can place walls or anything that is touching the ground by default but anything else is stuck floating mid air so i cant place it.

Even if i look down , what ever i am carrying just stays floating mid air with a red line around it and i do have all materials required.

The only time i can place a bed or chair is if i look up and place it on a roof or something flat and high up.

I think its a bug because any youtube videos ive watched they are able to place floors/beds/chairs etc just by looking down but as i said when i look down the item stays floating above the ground.

Any help would be great!! I hope its my stupidity!

Having a problem with the sanctuary quest line. I'm needing to place beds but no matter what I do they are always about 5ft off the ground and red. Any info on this

I've gotten the impression that the majority of users in this forum are from the US so you may not have your answer right away. I still have 11 hours until I can even start, along with a good number of others. I'm working right now and jealous you're playing haha

If you're seeing a red outline, that means it's not able to be placed in that area. There might be something you need to remove (a rug, a wire, etc). If you have enough space to place the item, you should see a green outline.

Thanks for response but ive cleared the entire area. Scraqed everything.

Its like its glitched so when i look down i cant even see the item any more as it stays floating in midair.

The only reason i cant place it is because im unable to make it touch the floor.

You need to make sure there's enough room for them to fit (you can grab items on the ground). You can use the triggers on the controller to rotate the item, too. That might help.

No tried all that its definitely a glitch
Only way I could do it was to enter crouch outside a building then enter workbench mode and place the bed whilst outside a building then go back inside and reposition the bed when back inside it took ages, but then the next step with the water there is no way to place a pump as no matter what you do its either about 2ft off the ground or under it.

This is ridiculous.

Fair enough the game hasnt been released yet but the bug is actually really bad and extremely frustrating.

I hope loads of people get it tommorow so it can be patched.

Ive done too much to start again.

Made a new character , ran to area and same bug -______- I scrapped entire area and still cannot place any floor,walls,fences etc because i cant get them near the ground.

Worries me that no one else who for the game early has this problem.

Fingers crossed for bugs galore tommorow or a day 1 patch.

I noticed someone mentioning a similar issue on the Xbox One section as well, so this may not be restricted to the PS4 version.

I am so happy its not just me!. Same bug for me ive been talking about in my thread!

Even made a new character and same issue! Its not just beds , its anything that needs to be touching the ground.

Im on PS4 so clearly a cross platform problem that needs patching. Hopefully a mod can now say something about this!

It was clearly far deeper then "not having enough room" i even responded to you on my thread that that wasnt the issue and instead of helping me you have come and said the exact samething to someone else????

Great I've started again and going to do nothing else but get to that part again and now I'm told the problem is likely to be still there.
This is a massive bug as it makes the big selling point of building your own town none existent. Hope this is fixed asap

Yeah i was really enjoying the game up till this point. Now its out of my PS4 until this is patched because if this HUGE bug made it into the early part of the game i dont even want to know whats coming down the line

yeah still bugged. Even made a new character and same issue.

Tried the save trick still same also tried fast traveling away then back still same. Tried placing something at the rockect service station and same.

The same thing has happened to me, as well. I was able to get around the issue of building beds by placing them on the roof, but now I'm stuck on the part where you have to plant crops. It's a little frustrating that I can't progress with this, I'm not sure what else to do.
