I can't advance in the main quest of Dragonborn. The quest "Cleansing the Stones" where you use the "Bend will" shout to crack the four stones on Solstheim is not completable, as two of the stones cannot be destroyed at all. Been like this since the release of the addon. I use the shout on them, the worshippers of the stone leave but no Guardian emerges, and the stones do not fall down. Since I've started the questline but can't finish it, Miraak will also forever steal half of all the dragon souls I'd otherwise absorb.
The mail below was sent by me to Bethesda, who replied by telling me to take it up to the forums here. No big surprise there. If you google my issue, you'll see how it has been discussed on various forums since the release of Dragonborn, but I'll put it here just for fun anyway. Not that I think it'll actually make the company fix the error, but anyways.
"Dear Bethesda,
for years, you've supplied me with an seemingly endless supply of
larger-than-life RPG's which have allowed me to immerse myself in
living, breathing worlds.
However, I can't put into words the level of frustration I encounter
when you fail to take any steps in patching gamebreaking bugs that the game
community makes you very much aware of.
What made me write this particular feedback is the gamebreaker in
Skyrim's addon "Dragonborn" and the quest "Cleansing the
Stones" in Solstheim. The bug has been discussed by the community since
Dragonborn was released. It makes it impossible to use the "Bend
Will" shout to crack two of the pillars and thus makes it impossible to
advance in the main quest of the addon, which as you know, was not released
as free to play. This would not be a problem had I bought the PC version,
but even in its case, the gamer community would be responsible for the bugfix,
not Bethesda. With Xbox 360 and its lack of the console command option and
independent patching, I'm just totally screwed over and feeling like you
couldn't give two cents about it since nothing has been done since the
release.
I wish you showed some interest in providing support and fixing bugs which
make it completely impossible to advance and thus makes you feel like
you're thrown to the wolves as a player as soon as you've given your
money to the company."
I'm not one of those people who roll a new character every time I stumble upon one of these fails since I tend to concentrate on building one character. Nor do I think that is what I should do, and there are no guarantees that the situation with this quest would change even if I did.
I also searched for solutions to the problem on these forums and stumbled upon a few suggestions which I tried (fast traveling away from the stone, waiting 10 days, fast traveling back and shouting + loading previous save from waaay back), but nothing helped.
Any thoughts or help?
