The gamebryo engine used is a graphics renderer. That is it.

It's what takes the .nif files I believe and turns them into 3-d objects on your screen. Also does the shading and lighting. I think thats right.

More correctly, it's compiled code that turns game assets into stuff you can see. :) Aside from scripts, game assets aren't code in a programming sense. They're data.
