Gameloft, you doing it wrong!

Post » Sun May 24, 2009 10:11 am

I think gamesas must take their rights of EWJ franchiese back to original creators.
Just look what horrible ugly mess this Gameloft doing now: Image
We true Earthworm Jim fans want to see STRONG art, not this HD crap.
Listen to Earthworm Jim creator, Douglas TenNapel:
"HAHHAHAHA! Look at those hideous Jims! At least the obviously bad art will give true Jim fans something to laugh at. We finally have the HD resolution to get a good look at Jim and he looks like this?! Put it back! Go back to 16 bit!
...
I have no idea what's going on with this game. It's weird, but I'm kind of used to Jim looking and acting not-Jim for most of his life since EWJ2. What bugs me is that it doesn't cost more money to make these things look right, it just takes humility for a production to admit that they might need some help.

I'm still hoping gamesas will do a legit, new, next generation Jim game we've talked about. It's financially tough out in the gaming world right now. Companies like EA are laying off people and studios are shutting down everywhere."

We still want NEW Earthworm Jim game created by D.T. and other people from original Shiny crew, not Gameloft! Sorry for my bad english. I'm just belarussian EWJ fan.

Nothing wrong with it at all in my opinion, it looks far better in motion than those stills. Plus that's not something you can really get away with in this day and age for retro releases. The fact that we are getting more than just an emulation is very grateful.

Now if they were to make a new Earthworm Jim game with a retro style ala Mega Man 9/10 that would be awesome!

I miss the old Jim. The original Earthworm Jim games were real quality stuff.

I've been following this new game pretty closely. I don't like how it has turned out. The art is not good (some levels and characters would seem more appropriate in an internet flash game, not on the Xbox 360) and the sound effects have changed. It's bizarre. The original sounds were fine, the new ones are a little annoying.

What really bothers me is Doug TenNapel, the creator of Earthworm Jim, is not involved in this Earthworm Jim game, even though he wants to be involved. There was an EWJ 4 said to be in development that Doug TenNapel was going to be involved in (along with a new cartoon series and even a movie), but I don't know what has happened to that. I'm not sure Doug TenNapel knows what happened, actually. I'm hoping it's not been entirely scrapped, but I've gotten used to gamesas letting me down with EWJ.

I bought Earthworm Jim HD to hopefully support EWJ 4. I want gamesas to know that there is an audience for Earthworm Jim and I hope they will invest time and money into making a game worthy of the Earthworm Jim name. The only games worthy of the Earthworm Jim named involve Doug TenNapel.

If the next EWJ game does not involve Doug TenNapel, I will not be buying it.

I guess you can't please everyone.

I think EWJ 4 is still under production but haven't heard anything about it in a while either.

While close up the art looks pretty strange, I think it looks great in motion.

I think not, original animation was much better. Gameloft cut-off many frames I dont' know why. Now some characters (even Jim) moving like cripples. Sorry for my bad english. I'm just belarussian EWJ fan.

Lol, yeah the original sprites were WAY better. Luckily the Dsi version uses the proper sprites, shame about the gameplay being to fast with annoying slowdown. Gameloft, your doing it wrong.

I also feel sorry for some of the producers of gamesas or gameloft or one of them two. Some people wanted who turned out the lights and the original sound effects in it. To bad gameloft thought they could do better...

Jim's Fanbase is gonna end up being the next Sonic Fanbase if y'all complain about every little thing!!

Face it: The days with Shiny are over, and Doug doesn't even CARE about his creation anymore. He's like the Seth MacFarlane of the Gaming Industry.

That being said, I barely notice any problems with HD despite it missing "Who Turned Out The Lights?". "I Don't Care How Hilarious You're Apron Is! We're NOT going to eat him!" - Turanga Leela, "Futurama"

Hey kid, what are you talking about? Doug always care about Earthworm Jim. And thats why Gameloft doesn't hire Doug as consultant - they no need to make Jim right, it much simplier and faster to do a trash like EWJ HD.

Oh, for heaven's sake!! Look, If you have a problem with the graphics of a game, it's simple: Don't Play It.

And you hardly notice it being the frames go by so quickly and it's SO DAMN SMALL!!!

As for your Doug argument, if he cared about Jim so damn much, why DIDN'T he go to Gameloft and correct their mistakes? And on another note, why isn't he working on anything Jim Related? May I remind you he DE-Nounced EWJ4?

svck on that one and chew it for a while. I'm done arguing... "I Don't Care How Hilarious You're Apron Is! We're NOT going to eat him!" - Turanga Leela, "Futurama"

I think you just young and naive. Or just a troll, nevermind.
Your words about "why Doug didn't go to Gameloft and correct their mistakes" make me LOL. Sorry for my bad english. I'm just belarussian EWJ fan.

And why? If he KNEW something was wrong, he should've taken matters into his hands since its his character, not Gameloft's.

Also, if you think HD is bad, I bet you haven't played "Meance 2 The Galaxy". "I Don't Care How Hilarious You're Apron Is! We're NOT going to eat him!" - Turanga Leela, "Futurama"

I believe Earthworm Jim is owned by gamesas, not TenNapel. I highly doubt he can do anything with the franchise unless gamesas lets him, or in this case, Gameloft.

Doug does want to work on Earthworm Jim games, he is EWJ's biggest fan. But gameloft either A.) Couldnt afford doug. Or B.) Couldnt be arsed to ask for his help. He dosent have the rights to publish Earthworm Jim games because gamesas, so he can;t decide what goes into the games or who makes them.

P.s: Please dont talk about Menace to the Galaxy, it burns  Hullo
