Gamepad suport on PC

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:20 pm

Hey Guys.

I was wondering, if Brink will support Gamepads (e.g. Xbox Controller) in PC version? I′m thinking about buying Brink for PC instead of Xbox, but I prefer playing with gamepads. This is why I hope there will be support on PC.
Can anyone tell me, if they are supported?

why? you like having a much lower accuracy?
most games who do have gamepad support usually have aim-assistance too, wich can mess up other's people aim when they use mouse and don't know about the assist.
so either it messes up people's accuracy, or it put's you on a disadvantage.
so, again, why?

All "Games for windows" are required by Microsoft to support the xbox controller for easy access. So don't worry...

To the guy who posted before me...seriously? That discussion is pretty facking old.

The game will have XBox 360 gamepad support for sure, due to Games For Windows.

Which is not point of this discussion.

E3 demo was played on PS3.

However, Wedgwood has stated that he fored the testers to play with a gamepad, to assure that the controls were tight - And other events (CC vids, Bot defusal vid, PAX, GamesCon, Quakeon, etc.) were all played with an xbox controller on PC.

i'm intending to do the same thing, i feel gamepads would actually be a better fit for the smart system especially doing manual smart moves (they're faster but require you to perform the actions manually)
it's a simple paradigm shift to aim with gamepads, you don't move the crosshair. you move the body. simply hit the trigger when the crosshairs line up with the target. personally i tend to do better with gamepads on this kind of game...not saying i'm a pro by any stretch of the imagination but I do better with gamepads. it's a preference. it may be a downgrade for you but if you play console fps more frequently than pc fps the kb/m isn't actually very good. likewise the opposite is true for the opposite group. it's all what your practised with.

I never played any game with shooting mechanics like Brink on the consoles, I think mouse and keyboard are in this case the "easier" choice by far. I played a bunch of games on consoles as well as on PC, but I, personally think that the difference gamepad/keyboardmouse will be greater in Brink than in other games. (please note that I carefully selected my words, to ensure that I don't start a platformwar)

Regardless if you're better with a controller over a m/kb, chances are the vast majority of PC players are still going to be better than you. It's like choosing to use a skateboard in a drag race because you're more comfortable with it. That's cool, but you're still at a disadvantage.

ahhh i see...you think that bothers me. i play team fortress 2 with gamepad as well. i get whitewashed. but it's more fun for me and i definetaly get more kills than when i use kb/m. screws up anyone using my pc at lan party's though as valve setup an optional console interface which confuses the kb/m players.

all us gamepad players really want is less discrepancy between pc and console when using a gamepad. until the gamepad code for the x360 pad starting shipping with the direct x sdk gamepad support was terrible to put it positively.
