Gameplay Mechanics: Hacking-possible spoilers

It seems that for hacking, instead of being locked out indefinitely after failing, you will be locked out for a specific amount of time. For novice, it is confirmed to be 10 seconds.

Opinions?

Well, considering everyone would just log out after three tries and then try again, what difference does it really make?

Well, the lesser the benefits of having a skill, the more trivialized it becomes.

1)Speak for yourself.

2)Those who did that will do it now as well if waiting takes longer.

Meh. Not that big a deal for me. My only complaint is it should be done in real time like in Deus Ex. I still get the crap scared out of me when that one guard I missed walks by and opens fire.

I was hoping they were going to overhaul the hacking, I wasn't the biggest fan. But, whatever. I wonder if fail attempts are permanent now unless you wait the allotted time or find a allowance replenish?

Seems fine to me. I always exited the computer and retried anyway.

Yeah, i'm sad to see that's still an option. Just promotes mindlessly clicking words until they randomly get the right one. I'm one of the few that actually puzzles out the correct word.

I'm pretty sure that if you work systematically, you should always get it without logging out. If you've not got it already, no 4 is the one. The bonus characters are unnecessary too.

Maybe Beth haven't changed it because most players haven't actually cracked it yet?

I rarely bothered logging out, I usually managed to narrow it down by the third try, then used the 'bracket' commands to remove duds and replenish tries.

Only ever logged out, if I misclicked on the wrong character.
