i agree with all the people that said that they want to build up excitement and stuff so that they can get more sales and stuff.

I've heard that there's no live demo at E3... but that doesn't mean there won't be any gameplay released. That's kinda ridiculous. Even if it's just over the web (which I doubt it will be), I'm willing to bet that we'll get plenty of gameplay. There will probably be some interviews where they're playing the game as they discuss it at least. We'll probably get a series of short gameplay vids with a commentary by Todd Howard, like they did with Oblivion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de1M4Q_g2eg&playnext=1&list=PL39E9E97DB0417F7A) and FO3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dAjzC4h51A).

I'm not sure if it's actually official, that there isn't going to be any gameplay demonstration for Skyrim, but there won't be any Public demonstration at E3 (As was the case in Oblivion), but maybe a carefully constructed media walk-through. The reason is probably TES games are so complex, if you let every mouth-breather have at it, something will break eventually, generating undue negative press, that's my guess at least. Either that, or they don't want to spend time polishing a single quarantined area of the game to display to the public.

By appointment only as they want to handle the press and let the reporters ask questions about the gameplay later, if all fans had access they would had to rent a cinema.
This also give game magazines something to write about, creating more hype, if they just published on the elderscroll page it would not create headlines.

I think it's a brilliant idea to not show the fans gameplay. how better to market a game at the worlds biggest gaming event than to not release anything public?

Fantastic stuff.

I think it would be a huge mistake if BGS does not show us Gameplay material at E3. We are 5 and 3/4 months away from release I don't see why we can't have Todd do a public demo and have them post it on the Elderscrolls.com. Heck do the Golden Claw quest and just have Todd not be in God mode. If he gets killed (unlikely) then the game is going to be awesome, although he'll probably be ticked off for the next couple hours.

It's easy to show things like this behind closed doors because 99 percent of the gaming press will blindly fawn over any new triple-A title in the works. They get free advertising and no one is there to ask hard hitting questions about things that actually matter.

Beth's booth may be invite-only, but as far as "no gameplay" goes, they're just playing it coy.

They want us all to be surprised when Todd suddenly strolls out onto the stage during one of the major press conferences.

People look for gameplay videos when deciding whether to buy a game. They like to see proper gameplay as in the game running normally.

No gameplay at E3 is a huge ******* disappointment. Once E3 rolls around we'll be 5 months from release. Would love to see a gameplay demo...

Theyll release a gameplay video, likely the same as what was shown behind the closed doors. The games just probably not in a stable enough version to just let everyone see it, so theyll want to control and edit anything that might go wrong during the showing.

no one is there to ask hard hitting questions about things that actually matter.

Lol its a videogame, not politics or law.

I remember for Fallout 3 that Todd was even hitting the ground BEFORE E3 showing gameplay, on G4. We saw the E3 Fallout 3 demo before E3 began.

I think it's because not much of the game is ready for the public eye. There are those who say "Oh yeah, the game's already done!" and then there are those that actually have a clue about game developement. I just don't think they feel confident in letting people wander the world since so much would be incomplete. I will be content with an extended more in depth gameplay video though.

So, what, do you actually think that they're not going to show( show the public that is...) anything during E3?

Thats exactly what im saying.

It has never been confirmed that we will not get gameplay footage at or around E3, people need to stop stating it like it has. Like Pete has already said "Always tentative to say anything definite, but chances are good for "something."
Whether that "something" is gameplay or not is still unknown.

Todd and pete both have stated, " were hoping to release info around E3"

Having said that, they have also stated that their booth is 'closed off' and 'invite only'

doesnt sound like they are going to release anything really during E3 huh?

Thats my speculation and im sticking to it, especially if i get proven wrong by todd and pete, makes it more exciting.

i dont want to expect demos and full trailers and all this crap. Too much of a let down.

Pete also said trailers take a long time to name. The one in February took months. I don't think they would have finished another one in 3 months time.

Well This thread is here mainley to disscuss about that the puplic wont see gmeplay of skyrim at E3. You can post why/ think Beth wont put gameplay and what do you think.

Also If there is a thread like this then sorry.

I am not worried, the gameplay will most definitly be leaked. And whos to say that Todd wont give a gameplay interview. Just look to the E3 Oblivion had months before it was released.

Way back in January when GI unveiled the world exclusive reveal of Skyrim the Bethblog did say to expect coverage similar to Fallout 3's leading up to release. Whatever that means?

They also said the following,
@DCDeacon OK thanks. It's just that E3 is 3 weeks away and I was wondering if we'll be seeing Skyrim or only hearing about it from the media
@yanks4champs Doesn't mean we don't look at ways of showing some of the game to a wider audience and our fans.

@DCDeacon When EXACTLY are Skyrim fans going to see an in-game footage (someone actually playing the game) video?
@briand932 probably E3

@DCDeacon one of your tweets said fans will get new footage of Skyrim at "probably E3". Is it still undecided, or should we expect some?
@ivandalx Always tentative to say anything definite, but chances are good for "something".

sounds like they are wanting to release some sort of gameplay footage to the fans around E3, they are just probably trying to keep whatever they have planned a secret. I'm not saying that they will release footage because I don't know, but that's just what it sounds like to me.
I understand that people don't want to get their hopes up just to get let down, but it's not confirmed that there will not be gameplay just as it's not confirmed that there will be gameplay. So with that in mind, people shouldn't be saying we won't get gameplay like it's a fact.

I don't think we'll get anything from the actual E3 expo itself, but hopefully they release something to the public around E3 through the Bethblog, or official site.

I just hope we get some new info soon and direct from the source rather than magazine/web articles from irrelevant gaming sites.

Well I figured that they dont want to put gameplay to the public because they dont want to spoil a quest?

I suppose that's a possibility, but my take would be that it's too long before release and they're still tinkering/tweaking. That being the case, it's more likely that they don't want to be showing anything that might disappear or receive a major overhaul in the coming five or six months.

I think they mean the booth itself will be for media types, not the average E3 passer by. Im pretty in the know about all Skyrim interviews and I dont recall any declarations that the public wont see anything. Only that the booth itself will only let in those who made apppointments and are bigger names

i wouldn't say there wont be any game play revealed at E3, due to the fact that they push to release such content at E3 near a title release to build hype and to get a big number of ppl intrested in the product, if its behind closed doors their presences is still felt and that creates more hype and pushes fans to want to see wat was being showed behind closed doors, I and many other educated E3 guessing article writers believe that there will most likely be gameplay and also a new trailer. only time will tell...

It was actually the E3 walkthrough's that convinced me to buy Oblivion late 2007, i heard that it wasn't even meant to be released in the first place?

If ever there was a place to show off gameplay, it would be E3. Doesn't make sense to do another closed showing for a few journalists in my opinion.
