As a PC gamer, are you satisfied with your purchase?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:07 am

Just to clarify, this is not another attempt to get people flaming about the PC version, rather to get a somewhat objective picture of PC gamers as consumers opinion. The criteria is focused on the vocalized drawbacks of the game being largely a console port, and as to whether you feel you have been done right or wrong as a consumer, with all things in perspective. This is not the place to complain about specific RPG elements, but rather the technical side of the PC version. Please vote simply yes/no, and then feel free to explain your opinion why.

Personally, I think all things in consideration, the PC version needed a delayed release date due to the innumerable bugs I have run into, as well as a completely botched UI. The graphical detail is certainly lacking too. I am loving the game nonetheless, however I do not believe that these are acceptable conditions for a game to be released as a full version on a particular format, and for this reason alone I am voting no.

I am as the game is awesome. I can look away from the bugs and framerate problems, because the game just has too many good parts.

No, I am not satisfied.

Hopefully when the CK is out and the community starts fixing and balancing the game as it should have been by it's developers, then I might be satisfied.

I am happy.

I had a Morrowind when it was new. On top end hardware of the time it would lag and crash constantly. Skyrim is the same if not better in this regard.
Patches helped Morrowind, Patches will help Skyrim.

The game itself suffices and suits most of my needs. But the product itself lacks considerably, it is poorly optimized, bug ridden and above all that; a poorly constructed console port.

Yes, absolutely. I have not experienced any glitches or bugs in my game though.

So far I'm happy with the level of tweaking and customisation. The CK will only add to the experience, and I don't mind the wait.

I am definitely satisfied. Its easily a game that is worth the price. There are a large number of things that the Creation Kit is needed to make the game even better. However, if you compare Skyrim to other games as far as fun, it is easily above average.

I voted no. But that doesn't mean that i don't LOVE this game with a passion.

I love games, and i play on PC. So, i want to see games make the most out of the latest hardware.

I'm satisfied that skyrim is an awesome game, but knowing it could of looked Sooooooooo much better on the PC i voted No.

Imagine if this game supported the latest tech!!!! It would be even better.

But as usual, us PC gamers are pissing against the wind. Nothing will be done.

I bought this game for the modding potential alone. PC gamers have it better than console players, really. Even though we complain a lot, for some reason. Whiny bastards we are.

Only problems what is consoles fault in skyrim is bad ui and graphics aren't the best. I can live with both, and fixing those problems with mods is pretty easy. Also we get an awesome modding tool what almost no other game company gives, so i'm very happy with my PC version.

Hmm, in German I would say "Jein"... :unsure2:

I cannot vote "Yes" or "No", because the game is fantastic, but there are too many points that could be way better for the PC... (Interface! :ahhh: ,basic graphic options for real fast PC′s --> you have to spend a lot of time in the .ini to modify settings, look for texture mods...)

EDIT: Okay, I′ve voted no, I hope the devs will try to improve some points, and don′t think that everything′s all right.

I'm playing on a mid ranged laptop with a basic video card. It manages to run high graphics settings and I've not had any bugs or crashes.

I think allot of issues stem from individual issues with machines more so then game coding/programming.

No. Tons of glitching, constant crashing, a completely unworkable UI on the PC, graphical glitching. That's just for starters. Here's some more:

Uses DirectX 9.0c. I mean come on, seriously? This is 2011, not 2005. Start high and work down like DICE does, don't build for lowest common denominator and upscale. Upscaling will never be as good as downscaling.

mouse Y movement tied to frame rate. All I have to say on this is: "what?"

Clear lack of QA. Exploring places early can permanently break quests. MAIN QUEST ones no less. Then there's all the glitching that occurs on some people's machines.

Overall I feel like I've been had, like I've paid $60 to be a beta tester. I will NOT be buying a Bethesda game on release ever again.

I've been getting the standard obscure quest scripting issues and "Radiant Insanity" at times. Nothing new for a bethesda game.

Then again I did pre-order Fallout New Vegas. A game that for me was a bug riddled disaster when it was first released.

Of course! The game is still pretty great on its own. I know somewhere down the line any small things that annoy me (or already do atm) will be fixed by mods just like Oblivion/FO3. It's no big deal....skyrim's fun by itself anyways.

I feel sorta bad saying this but I think this is the best ES game w/o mods. Or rather the only one i haven't felt I REALLY need to mod-out right away.

The game itself is a joy to play. However like oblivion I was saddened by the console-a-fied ui.

I voted yes for e game, but as a PC gamer it is certainly sub par when compared to other ui's for the PC.....we definitely got the short end of the straw....

But fortunately I know we have great modders here who are more than capable of fixing it....I'm just sad Beth skimmed over this part for us PC users.....seriously you can't tell me you had PC testers who didn't put bugs in regarding the unintuitive ui?????

Best money I spent in a game for a long time.

The few bugs I've stumbled upon and design choices that I don't agree with, never stopped me from enjoying this game. There are a lot more hours in this game for each cent I spent, than most other games I bought.

Also, there will be mods to make it even better

1) the game runs great, no stuttering no issues to speak of.
2) I have crashed ONCE, in 40 + hours
3) I have not seen any bugs that have made me cringe.

For the record, I still have my copy of daggerfall, MW, and oblivion. I am no stranger to TES Games. I think this is the best one yet.

I can only imagine the rioting if the console versions had been released on the 11th and PC gamers were still waiting for their copies. Are there glitches? Do I regularly feel as though I'm wrestling the UI? Would I give my first character for an in-game map with clearly depicted roads? Am I extremely frustrated by the state of mages? You bet! Am I overall enjoying the game? Very much.
