So if nearly every game reviewer on the planet gives Oblivion ~90% (higher than Morrowind.)............ it meant nothing?

At most you can say Morrowind had higher standards which is why it scored lower on average, but either way Oblivion is still a great game and the fact it scored higher than morrowind by the almost all of the same people who scored morrowind must mean something

Yes, it would mean very little if not nothing. These days big name reviewers wouldn't know a good game if you sodomized them with one, though they still often know bad games.
I never said Oblivion wasn't a great game. Of course it could've been a fantastic game, but we won't dwell on that...

People are freaking out because Skyrim isn't a clone of Morrowind. Skyrim is Skyrim, not any previous game.

Uhm no, people are freaking because they dont want a clone of oblivion

The result doesn't look unrecognisable from its predecessor,There's plenty that's Oblivion about Skyrim, and probably less about it that's Morrowind than some people will like,

To everyone [censored]ing about this...what exactly from Morrowind do you want?

Morrowind is an elder scrolls game. Oblivion is also an elder scrolls game. So is Skyrim.
So, skyrim = elder scrolls = morrowind, oblivion, skyrim. Makes a lot of sense now, doesn't it.

 you have to be some kind of Obtuse...extreme obtuse to think anyone who likes Morrowind want Skyrim to be EXACTLY like Morrowind or that Mushrooms are what Made Morrowind Special........

If you think people want a Carbon copy of Morrowind, then you don't understand what makes Morrowind Special, Oblivions combat, Voice acting graphics, all of that come with Time, its the concept and detail spent in the game that made it worthwhile Oblivion isn't a bad game, its just not what it could have been, alot of wasted potential on Graphics, the masses, and money.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Like I said, I'm tired of people saying "Skyrim is it's own game and will be great in its own way" as an excuse to ignore and throw away some of the many successes of Morrowind, and as an excuse for Skyrim to possibly not turn out as good as it could be.

Sir Drake, I don't think you're an a**hole, but acting like one isn't helping anyone's perspective.

Calling me an a**hole isn't helping anyone's perspective. Mabe your internet ego is affected, i will even respect your opinion about calling me an a**hole, though i believe insuting people with highly offensive words should not be tolerated on a community website, is your opinion , well to each one his own. I never insulted anyone and never will on a forum on the internet , i hope you have a really good day i mean it! :foodndrink:

I hope Skyrim delivers , and i hope i get incentive for to explore and incentive for to lvl up :)

I'm going to quote the whole paragraph

'The result doesn't look unrecognisable from its predecessor, There's plenty that's Oblivion about Skyrim, and probably less about it that's Morrowind than some people will like, But mostly it looks like an exciting new world built by smart people who have listened to their audience.'

I think the whole quote got lost in the brou-ha-ha. It sounds much better in full context.

lol I knew the second I read that one little line people would freak. He said that after seeing a very small demo, and of course its going to seem more like oblivion than morrowind: the combat and setting are both way closer to oblivion than morrowind, which is all the journalist saw. He didn't see story, guilds, or anything. Relax people, deep breaths, ear rubbing, the whole deal

I hope there's some kind of spell, or a magic staff that throws spider webs, If so, I'm gonna have a room in my house with a wall covered with spider webs full of dead hoes on it.

Nope dude, I mean not talking with each other, and Morrowind actually had all the way repetitive quests.
And I guess it was some other Oblivion you played, because Morrowind doesn't have a single quest of the level of Sheogorath's shrine's quest, or the quest where you had to get the guy from his dreams, or the Mages Guild ''archeologic" one or a ton of others you haven't played since you played your "crappy" Oblivion.

And I don't say OB is perfect, read my previous post if you want to get the point, otherwise gtfo and stop trolling

I'm with the camp that loves Morrowind and Oblivion for different reasons. Both great games, both have flaws. Sometimes I'm glad I have the good nature not to troll this place, because damn...you guys make it easy. Haha.

and Sorry, but Sir Drake, you sound silly. Get a hold of yourself man. You're making us all look bad. :spotted owl:

You said it all. I'll double this.

Are you able to post anything that isn't gibberish embedded in comma splices?

Urgent forum news flash:

Entire forum breaks out in a ball of fire over one sentence in one man's opinion over game. Man's meaning in the one sentence is not explained nor fully understood but still the flames/flamebaiting and responses to such ensued causing moderators to lock up the thread. Other great observations and much information goes undiscussed causing TES fans everywhere to appear tunnel visioned and quick to misinterpret information. It was a sad day.
