PC Gamer June 2011! Demo Explained

Post » Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:40 pm

And how would you know? Have you played Skyrim?

No, and why would that invalidate my concerns of how the game may possibly turn out?

Should we all wait patiently, expecting the best?

Yes...

"There's plenty that's Oblivion about Skyrim, and probably less about it that's Morrowind than some people will like"

Good, I was starting to worry they were going too far to please the vocal minorities and in doing so were forgetting the improvements OB had brought to the series. Sprinkle in a little of the things MW did well where needed and things will be perfect.

Have you? Are we not allowed to voice our concerns at all before release? Should we all wait patiently, expecting the best?

No, you are concerned over a person's opinion, which always vary from person to person.

Yes...

That would be foolish. We should be hoping for the best, bracing for the worst.

OMG, a journalist have said that the game is more similar to Oblivion than to Morrowind, in a context which we don't know, so he could be referring to the atmosphere, the art style or whatever! The world is over!

Anyway, it was obvious that the game would be more similar to Oblivion. Oblivion was later. I wish they recovered some very cool things from Morrowind that were missed in Oblivion, but if they said that the game is going to be more similar to Morrowind... that would worry me.

I hope they managed to include that "exploration feeling", and a good story as Morrowind had, along with other things. But, in most aspects, I expect it to be more like Oblivion...

Wonder if we'll ever get to see this demo? E3 supposed to be about Factions and such, so I don't think they'll be doing the demo again there.

So happy to hear it will be more like Oblivion.

You should try playing Morrowind or Arena oh i forgot you only play Oblivion on your console my bad , would be nice if you had any idea what Morrowind or any previous TES game was about

I do respect your opinion and tastes , you love to lvl up for nothing and have generic worthless repeating loot everywhere , and having every place looking the same , npcs talking about mudcrabs all the day , hehe well to each one his own, at the end the only think that matters is that you are happy with the game being Oblivion 1.5 :)

This is just my opinion of course

Yeah, because a Morrowind clone is what we've always wanted, right? No.

If Skyrim was as good as Morrowind in its own different way that would be fine, but in all likelihood it won't be, and that's why it doesn't make sense to carry over at least some of the the successes of Morrowind into Skyrim.

I'm [censored] tired of people saying "HERP it's not a Morrowind 2, it's its own game and will be special in it's own way DERP" as an excuse for the game not being as good as it could be.

Can't understand if you are being serious...
ARE YOU KIDDING?!
The game is not out, and someone says it's more like Oblivion, not Morrowind, and you say it's not as good as it could be... Nuff said :banghead:

I wasn't basing my whole statement on that one single quote, but rather on the greater trends and patterns that have led me to suspect something similar to what the journalist said. I already suspected what he said before reading this, him saying that just further confirms my inference.

Wait, I think you misunderstood what I meant. I meant people are probably concerned about certain promises *possibly* not being fulfilled, one of those *possibly* being the one before mentioned. I didn't mean to imply that those promises aren't being fulfilled. Obviously nobody will know that until the game's released.

Calm down, please.

It's true that Oblivion missed some things from Morrowind, of course. But aren't you forgetting about ALL the improvements? NPCs talks about mudcrabs, yes... did they talk about something in Morrowind? I don't think so. Every place looking the same? LOLWUT? Seriously, next time you go from Anvil to Bruma have a look at the landscape... the variety of landscapes in Oblivion is something undeniable. There are no giant mushrooms, OK... and what?

Some of you guys are seriously making me hate Morrowind. Like for real.

Oblivion bad, Morrowind good. Ung. Velorien smash. Morrowind is the holy grail of life and Oblivion is the worst game ever made. I would rather stab myself in the eye than play Oblivion, and I'd rather play Morrowind than have six.

Wait a second...i see some people losing their hype! Come on, the game is 6 months away. Give bethesda a damn break. And Oblivion was a good game, Morrowind was better, But they were all Elder Scrolls games, which is why we bought them all. TES FTW, stay united guys. :tes:

Oblivion wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be on hardcoe fans forums.

I'm going to quote the whole paragraph

'The result doesn't look unrecognisable from its predecessor, There's plenty that's Oblivion about Skyrim, and probably less about it that's Morrowind than some people will like, But mostly it looks like an exciting new world built by smart people who have listened to their audience.'
