It was in the Game Informer magazine :/

And thanks for telling us that that was 'in your opinion', just in case we might have mistaken it for the divine word of God, or someone else who you were surreptitiously paraphrasing.

Honestly, it's the most ridiculous, superfluous, self deprecating platitude in language. Not that I'm 'flaming' you, just the phrase.

Shut the hell up you blubbering [censored]. Not that I'm 'flaming' you, just your post. In my opinion.

Thanks for the info, OP. Dragon Shouts are sounding cooler and cooler :)

* You can pickup a one handed weapon with either hand.
* You can have one only in your left hand.
* You can have one only in your right hand.
* You can have one in the left hand and one in the right hand, at the same time.

If that had been the case it would have said "You can use a one-handed weapon in both/in each hand(s) to deal more damage"
... but it doesn't say that.
It is very possible that they've gotten it wrong though. They might have misinterpreted something, or might just have worded it wrong. It's easy to mix up "a one-handed weapon in both hands" and "a one-handed weapon in two hands" in Norwegian... so I won't be too surprised if it's not what I thought it was. But if we're gonna go strictly by what it says in the text, I'm standing by my original interpretation. I can see where your interpretation is coming from and it's definitely possible that we'll find that it was what they really meant, but for now I'll keep hoping I'm right :)

I don't think this picture (in my opinion mind you) is a real screenshot from any source console or PC. I think it's a faked mock up. I've studied all the other images so far (about 12 in all) and http://www.gamereactor.se/media/59/elderscrolls5_235967b.jpg is the most surreal and strange of them all. The lake is too painterly like hand-painted water or some shader effect that isn't working. The plants on the left-hand bottom of the screen seem clipped from a stock source and photoshopped into the scene. Everything looks odd, off-color, and the waterfall looks hand drawn one tiny line at a time, and isn't blurred like running water. The trees even look photoshopped in. Here's a big one: look at the rock in the middle over the lake, there's no shadow under it on the water, it seems to be floating out there in mid air. It's totally faked. Look at the textures on the bottom-left dirt patch, the green blotches are not real, they are a joke. This can't be from any real image. The other images like the Dungeon with the zombies is absolutely mind boggling, but this is no where close to that. In my opinion, again.

I'm sorry, but unless Todd Howard tells me himself that this image is really from the game, snapped during live play, I won't believe it. And I don't want him to waste his time doing that, hahaha.

1. That screen with the beautiful lake is very clearly and apparently an authentic in-game screenshot and not a photoshop job. I think you need to upgrade your glasses or something.

2. Bethesda don't do bullshots and such crap.

He's not talking about the beautiful lake -- he's talking about that ugly pond we saw in the GI magazine :P It was pretty off topic and I find it weird that so many people reacted to it. It's obviously a real screenshot - just a poor one and one from an early build of the game, so it doesn't look as good as it should.

Except when you swear at someone, you are, pretty clearly, trying to flame them; me getting indirectly annoyed at a turn of phrase is different to you getting annoyed at me.

Certainly. We mustn't forget the original screenshots of Oblivion from 2004 and early 2005: which frankly looked awful compared to later images of the game.

Well I meant the Gameinformer beautiful lake (or pond if you like). Early build or not, the pond screen is beautiful.

I haven't seen the lake screen from Gamereactor yet, but if it's even more beautiful then that's a huge bonus for me. :celebration:

Wow, you must be the first person I've seen that doesn't think that screen was hiddeous :P The Gamereactor screen is much prettier!

http://twitter.com/#!/Cratesmasher/status/35464219340054528 about the one-handed in two hands thing.... he's apparently away on a business trip, so might take some time before he answers.... edit: http://twitter.com/#!/Cratesmasher/status/35468795959050240.

http://www.gamereactor.se/media/59/elderscrolls5_235967b.jpg still looks better than http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/702491/the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion/images/the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion-20060224102250813.html?page=mediaFull right? And Oblivion is far from hideous. :celebration:

Good, it seems like everything level scales again. Fantastic. Guess I'm waiting for a year or so before modders fix the game.

I start to wonder, what purpose does scaling serve in an RPG? So the game stays challenging throughout? Well... isn't the point of an RPG to progress, get stronger? If you get stronger, why should all your enemies scale to that strength to make you feel weak? I don't see the point. Why not just make this an action game with no stats, then we wouldn't need leveling scaling! YOU CAN'T HAVE BOTH!

Its level scaling is done fallout 3 style. Where you could wander into a place that had deathclaws and get your rear end handed to you on a post-apocoliptic plater. You can infact have both. We'll get weak little things we can bop on the head with whatever we fight with and one hit it, and other things will do the same to use. Places will have level caps, so monsters will always be within a specific range. I like this way better in my opinion. A lvl 5 can wander into a cave that has a range of 10-15, so there'll be lvl 10 monsters waiting to eat them up. A lvl 20 can wander into that same cave and have fun with monsters five levels weaker than them. This way the game's always marginally chalenging, but its not as extream as oblvion. I dont' see why it has to be so black and white with people.

I don't think it is. The give-away is the mountains. They still have that trademark Bethesda low-quality finish at the peaks. Mountains wouldn't look like that if they were done by an artist, and if they were, there would be far fewer of them.

Likely. But how could we know? It didn't come with a map :P

@Mattzy5 --- Huh? Trademark Bethesda peaks? Bethesda hasn't made mountains like these before as far as I'm aware of. These peaks are drastically different from those we saw in Oblivion and any other Beth game I've seen. You couldn't even call those peaks -- smooth steep hills, rather.

I think they look quite good -- if not super realistic.

You can have both, in Morrowind they level scaled but was discrete. In Fallout 3 they level scaled but was discrete. The only one they screwd was Oblivion's that everybody hated it except maybe Ken.

I think it is in game. Distant lod looks better than closer renderings. Interesting.
