Gamers is a game's worst nightmare

Post » Wed Aug 12, 2009 1:04 pm

Hello everyone!

I registered today on the forums and this is one of my first posts.

The main reason I registered on the forums is the following.

I was browsing through various topics and was reading if not all, at least most of the stuff that are posted.

I found some of your ideas really great and I shared my ideas too. I hope they'll be of help to developers in making the game.

There were some people though that clearly have no clue! (seriously, mutated bunnies?)

I am a fan of Fallout just like you people are. I am really excited and I am looking forward to the day beta opens.

I fear though for the possibility Fallout turns out to be a disaster. And that because of stupid ideas certain people have.

I believe gamesas knows what to do. So I am not worried. The least I'm waiting to see is mutated bunnies :p

The thing is though, if you haven't played Fallout 1 or 2, make yourself a favour and buy the Trilogy set. It's cheap too!

Play a bit, just enough to get a feeling of what Fallout and the Wasteland is all about.

I have played most mmo games out there and I found there are two types.

Those with lore and history and those that just started from zero. They are both great!

Problem is in the first category, people with no knowledge about the lore, ruin the fun for the rest of us.

It's like all those WoW boys going to LotRO. They have no clue about Tolkien. I doubt they have ever even seen the movies. They just play LotRO because it's free and WoW is ruined (by their ideas and complaints).

Appreciate a game like a well written book.

Don't just go for a game because it's a classic.

Certain things require certain appreciation. If you can't handle that, then it's not for you. Just don't ruin it.

Anyways, I hope you get my point. By the way, what I said ment no offence towards anyone.

Nice meeting you all and hope to see you all in game soon!

Until then I'll be around here reading and posting ; )

Take care!

Well Hello Kon!

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME

Alright now that that is over, Yes I am afraid all of the things that you've posted are true. I can't tell you how many posts I've read that I immediately want to respond as the follows.

1."Please take sometime to figure out the difference between this project and any Fallout games not made by any company other than gamesas."

2. "If you read the FAQ you would know the answer to the question you are asking, or atleast the closest things we have to an answer."

3. "The topic you are posting has already been brought up and alot of good ideas have already been tossed around. In fact the very idea you are proposing has been discussed."

This topic in fact is guilty of #3, which is fine, I certainly posted redundant things on this Forum when I signed up.

Well anyways welcome. I think you'll find that eventually you get bored of reading the same person posting silly inane stuff over and over again only to be replaced by someone who hasn't read anything of the forum and proceeds to start the process over again.

My advice, Read alot of the posts and then wait till the Beta is a little closer and we have more information to discuss. Otherwise we're just shooting in the dark. Another drunk conquistador conquering the governor's ball...

Hey, I LIKE the mutie bunnies. They taste like chicken.
Wait, I don't like chicken....................

Oh, right, anywho.........

Tere really IS a "solution" (if you want to call it that) to this situation. Make the training for the MMO be FO/FO2; You don't even get to play the MMO until you pass the original two.
Don't like that? Ok, then the "Opening credits" to the MMO be the "Ofififacal party line" for the previosu two.
Don't like that one either, huh? Alright, what about key game moments early in the MMO (before you can really be "targeted") wwhere you show you played FO/FO2; Like the bridgekeeper senario for FO2 (you know, you answer correctly, exceppt rather than dying your caracter get secretly tagged so everyone who ISN'T tagged knwo you don't know jack about FO/FO2, so they can gang up on you).

Don't like that eeither, huh? Well then I quit.

Guess you're gunna have to quit then, since no company in they're right mind would suggest that anyone play another one of they're games before you could play the newest one or be privilaged to speical material ingame, especially one in gamesas's financial posistion.

Again I say promote fairness and be cool. If we work on promoting a community that is kind and loves Fallout then everything should be good. Also it wouldn't hurt to suggest everyone reads the FAQ before posting ANYTHING.

Other than that I think the only thing that would work in terms of getting Fo1 and Fo2 play up is to offer pre-order of FOOL that includes collectors editions of FO1 and FO2 and maybe getting a badge that shows you beat the collectors editions fallouts, maybe an ingame item... But I wouldn't want to see something like people ganging up and people who hadn't played through FO1 or 2 primarily because I believe that people who've played the first two will be out numbered by those who hadn't. :?

If you want an elite community of people who fit all of those requirements you might want to go start one on another forum where you can ensure those things of people before they can post. I am pretty sure you won't be able to ensure those things here. Another drunk conquistador conquering the governor's ball...

So... Like me playing DDO even though I've never played the Eberron campaign?

Personally, I don't really care for RPG stories unless it's a single player or group-based RPG. Especially if this is going to be a sandbox. My main concern is all of the 1337-5p34kerz running up to you and taunting your group for trying to RP (WHAT? RP'ing in an MMORPG? Preposterous!). Perhaps a lack of any real story will prevent that? After all, it it's completely non-linear, the WoW fanbois will completely lose interest in the first couple days, because they'll either have to svck it up and make up their own stories, or (since it seems to be impossible for most of them) go onto their various game sites and complain about it doesn't make sense, how WoW is better, and so on and so forth. Either way, the problem is pretty much dealt with.

*dramatically* God bless the Enclave! I put the 'Skill' in 'Kill.'
Wait, what?

i thought that problem was already dealt with when there was a discussion of possible separate servers. don't know if they will or not,but either way you make me LOL when you suggest they make a game with no story. why should they cater solely to the rp gamers by making a game where you have to make up the whole story? that's almost as bad as catering to just hardcoe gamers or just casual gamers.
