Yes, but I'm talking about more mythogical creatures, a giant cyclops would be more scary than a fat furry animal

Didn't know Cyclopes were in the ES universe, and were partial to cold climate. I also don't know how a Cyclops is suddenly more interesting than (unique rather than stereotypical) Dragons, Mammoths, Ice Wraiths, Ice Trolls, Giants, and Spriggans.

Also, realize that Skyrim hasn't released all the information yet either. Either way, I'm glad you're not taking part in the development team.

So basically what you're saying is the game only had a few monsters, as long as you're allowed to dictate what constitutes a monster, in order to make sure you're right.

Which is why you've been discarding any opinion that doesn't agree with your admitted bias, and rewriting the definition of "monster" to make sure your bias comes out as the only possible "right" answer? Riiiiight...

Or a nine-foot-tall Minotaur one-handing a Daedric warhammer?

OMG you're right! :D

Maby your right, still won't new creatures and less generic :turtle:

I am a big fan of classical mythology, but the problem with including the monsters from Greek and Roman mythology is that half of all RPGs use them, so the fact that Bethesda has created so many unique monsters that aren't pointless or stupid is actually quite impressive.

What I think is missing the most is actually animals inspired from the real world, like rhinos, pythons, crocodiles, African lions, octopi. Obviously made more monstrous than their real world counterparts, but eh.

I was just giving an example, I just want there to me more monsters to encounter in the wild.

A three-eyed marshmallow toad, perhaps? That's original, no?

Those particular butterflies count double- they were a rare type of Daedric minion sent by Sheogorath himself! :D

Man, that was a awesome moment. :celebration:

Elder Scrolls games have PLENTY of monsters. Seriously, sometimes I feel like this forums sole purpose is for people to complain about anything. I was under the impression we were here because we love Elder Scrolls.

yeah but the lore is important and introducing random new monsters is potentially lore breaking

Nah not really, they can introduce new creatures easily. It's just lore not dogma.

I was fine with the number of creatures, especially in Morrowind and Daggerfall. Morrowind creatures looked awesome, it is unfortunate that you failed to spot the differences. Also, take it easy.

I'm not sure what the OP really wants. What's considered a creature type? My numbers may not be exact, but I've counted 54 different creatures in Oblivion and 60 for Morrowind. I think this offers plenty of variety. However, if Beth wants to give us more, well hey, the more the merrier!

No Morrowind only had 8 and they looked the same, Oblivion only had 6 to 7....LAME and BORING :sadvaultboy:

Someone never got past mudcrabs and wolves. I counted 31 unique creatures. By unique I mean there is a Wolf so Timber Wolf and Dog don't count because they are all canines. There are 50 if you count things like that. And a crap ton more if you include quest or location specific variations like Spectral Mud Crabs or West Weald Bears.

I can sort of understand how one can get the impression of a lack of creature diversity when out exploring the outside world. There are a lot of repeated encounters on any given level (cliff racers in morrowind as the prime example). This would perhaps leave an impression on the mind as there beeing less creatures that there actually are, and certainly, it lacks diversity in play. I voted 'no' in the poll, but really, thinking about this, I'd actually hope they added more creature encounters as far as uniqueness goes - and that they prolong the time between encountering creatures/type of creature.

If you look at the monsters, there are only 7 and they are very generic, also yes this poll is alittle bias, becuase I'm worried that Skyrim will share the same fate, but than again I wanted to here other peoples opinions

You can't get monsters anymore to not be generic. Everything has been used. And don't forget daedra are monsters and there were plenty of them. Another person that complains to complain.

With the scaling it meant you didn't see them all at the same time which does need to be changed but seriously, there is a [censored] ton of monsters.

To the OP, what is your reasoning for not including undead or brown bears as monsters? I can kind of understand the animals, but to say there is little variety, then excluding such enemies as liches, wraiths and dread zombies seems a little weird to me.
