ES games does not have alot of Monsters

Small rant by me
:swear:
Only a few amounts of info on Skyrim has hit the internet, the big lack and flaws in ES games are the small amount and variation of Creatures/Monsters. You guys only put like 4 to 5 different creatures in your ES games, yes you have undead and typical animals, but the lack of monsters is sad and pure lazyness. I hope Skyrim has alot of monsters, all that I saw in my GI issue were Frost Trolls, Ice Wraiths, Mountain Giants, and Spiders. Kinda sad to be honest. Morrowinds monsters were all the same and looked like small T-rexes with down syndrome. Oblivion had Ogres, Trolls, Land Dreaghs, Minotuars, spriggans, Willo's, and wait thats it. You make a huge world with lots of quest and NPC's put only a hand full of monsters to kill and discover. TWO WORLDS 2 beats ES with its amount of creatures, it had like 25+ monsters not counting undead and generic animals. :banghead:

NOTE: I'm the type of player who loves to explore and kill creatures and discover new things.

Morrowind had plenty. Oblivion did too (the level scaling just made it less apparent).

At least Morrowinds monsters were original unlike the crap usual fantasy genre monsters in OB. I'd like to see some unique creatures in Skyrim.

The thing with Skyrim is that every creature will behave differently. So wolves will not act like mammoths will not act like bears etc. In previous games (and every other game in the genre) different monsters were just different models with slightly different stats. This one is faster, this one does more damage. Etc. I also don't understand why undead and typical animals don't count.

"Frost Trolls, Ice Wraiths, Mountain Giants, and Spiders." ...skeletons, draugr, wolves, bears, dragons, probably vampires, spriggans, mammoths, saber tooth tigers, elk, half dozen daedra, and more I'm sure we won't see til later

You're right, and to be honest Daggerfall had a great amount. Morrwind was such a great game for story telling and quest, did not enjoy exploring in that game though, Oblivion makes me want to puke just thinking about that lazy project. :flame:

Uhhh... Morrowind and Oblivion had like 50+ monsters and several variation/unique versions of some of the creatures as well. You're smegging daft if you want more than those (not to mention let's realize that some creatures aren't going to be able to withstand the climate of Skyrim like others). Games these days you're lucky to have more than 10 enemy types and 2 bosses.

I'm not talking about animals such as Mammoths, bears, STT, Elk, and wolves, they seem like boring enemys. Monsters that roam through the wilderness of Skyrim is what I'm worried about. To come across only 4 to 6 is a little boring

ecosystems can only support so many massive predators and the most entertaining to fight arnt monsters but NPC characters so i think that with the addiction of dragons they have plenty of fun things to fight...

Deadra - all varieties (scamps, deadroths, dremora, golden saints, clanfear, elementals, spider...i might be forgetting some)

Undead- all varieties (zombies, skeletons, ghosts, wraiths, litchs, draugr )

mythical creatures- all kinds (minotaurs, will-oh-wisps, imps, spriggan, troll, Land Dreughs, dragons, goblins)

animals- all kinds (wolves, boars, bears, lions, rats )

plus TONS of human/elf NPCs to battle, thats a ton and the humanoid NPCs are all extremely varied

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Classes

these all have variations depending on level and such thats a massive combat environment

Either I've entirely lost the ability to count, or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Creatures suggest there were significantly more than "6 to 7" in Oblivion. And http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Creatures shows more than 8 categories in Morrowind.

And by the way, did you get those poll options at "Bias R Us?"

50+ no, Oblivions monsters-Troll, ogre, willo's, Spriggans, Land Dreuaghs, imps, and Minotuars, let alone very generic at that. I am not talking about undead and typical animals

Big step down in creature variety from MW to OB. Hopefully Skyrim doesn't let us down.

If you look at the monsters, there are only 7 and they are very generic, also yes this poll is alittle bias, becuase I'm worried that Skyrim will share the same fate, but than again I wanted to here other peoples opinions

If you think mammoths, bears, wolves, and saber tooth tigers are boring, I'm really not sure you can be helped. Each of those animals has potential to be terrifying for entirely different reasons.

Mammoths are like living tanks. A single person could probably not kill one, and they could kill you in a single hit. Bears are like smaller tanks that have claws, teeth, can climb trees, and like to eat you. Wolves hunt in packs, will circle you, chase you forever. Saber tooth tigers are fast, and will stalk you silently before pouncing.

That's not to mention that they all won't attack you on sight. Luckily the mammoths would be the most docile, and would only attack if you were 10 feet away or actively attacking them. Bears would defend cubs from 20 feet away. I think wolves would begin hunting you if they got you within sight. Saber tooths should actually be able to "smell" you and start following you from beyond their line of sight.

I think what is needed are BETTER monsters. Which means better AI. which for Oblivion is Limited to SHOOT, CHARGE, HEAL, FLEE. There is(WAS) little rational and no group or environmental coordination.

Yes, but I'm talking about more mythogical creatures, a giant cyclops would be more scary than a fat furry animal

So basically what you're saying is the game only had a few monsters, as long as you're allowed to dictate what constitutes a monster, in order to make sure you're right.

If you look at the monsters, there are only 7 and they are very generic, also yes this poll is alittle bias, becuase I'm worried that Skyrim will share the same fate, but than again I wanted to here other peoples opinions

Which is why you've been discarding any opinion that doesn't agree with your admitted bias, and rewriting the definition of "monster" to make sure your bias comes out as the only possible "right" answer? Riiiiight...

Yes, but I'm talking about more mythogical creatures, a giant cyclops would be more scary than a fat furry animal

Or a nine-foot-tall Minotaur one-handing a Daedric warhammer?

Come on guys. Other than animals, monsters, daedra, npcs, and undead there was nothing to fight in Oblivion.
