Our taste is very similar - if she likes a movie, chances are high that I'll like it too, and if I like a game, she'll probably like it too. Only I don't watch a lot of movies, and she doesn't play games very often.
I prefer games (or more specificly, RPGs) to movies because I take part in the events myself. (That's also why I prefer Internet to TV.) I prefer exploring and creating something of my own, rather than just watching something created by another person. That's why I very seldom feel like watching a movie, but can play Skyrim or Oblivion for hours. My sister is also a creative person; her reason for preferring movies is that they still are more visually appealing, the stories in games are usually more simple and shallow, and because playing a game gets repetitive after some time. Whereupon I replied that yes, the quests soon get old, but combat doesn't, and creating and developing characters doesn't.
It seems I have a higher tolerance for repetition in games, and she has a higher tolerance for repetition in movies. There's very few movies I can watch a second time, and even then, I have to wait at least a year before watching it again. Same with books. But games and manga/comics I could play/read over and over.
What are your thoughts about this? Games? Movies? Both?
