games you just cannot get into for whatever reason?

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 3:37 am

have a few but the 2 that are on my list atm are fallout 3 and red dead redemption.

they are both great games (i can appreciate that) but for reason's unexplaned,i just cannot get into them (i do want to though).

have bought them in the past but the cycle then (of not being able to get into them) is repeating now.

what games can you not get into for whatever reason?

Morrowind. I've given it several tries but there's just too many things I dislike about it to be able to enjoy the content.

Morrowind

I installed the MSGO overhaul and I still couldn't get into with the updated graphics. I was thinking that the main reason was because I played Oblivion and Skyrim first. I'll definitely give it another go over the summer.

Starcraft. I've tried twice to play it because it's so popular but it just never turns me on.

Portal. I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would think its fun. I accept that they do, I just can't even sort of see how. I tried to play it and I just couldn't care.

Because being verbally abused by a dominatrix AI while trying to solve mildly infuriating puzzles is supposed to be fun.

Oblivion, I think it is the graphics. For some reason I just can't stand how the game looks.

I was just about to make a thread telling about how no matter what I do, Dragon Age remains uninteresting and boring for me. :P

Grand Theft Auto V. It just didn't svck me in like Vice City/Stories, San Andreas and IV did. Oh, and the music blows ass.

Battlefield, most japanese games, Borderlands, all sports games and most racing games, MMOs and Gears of War. Though I did LOVE the torque bow.

Oblivion, probably because of the graphics. JRPGs. Minecraft is fun but there's really not much of an objective, making it rather boring sometimes.

Bioshock among others, but that is the standout.

Oh yeah Oblivion. #ofcourse

-Beowulf The Game: it was a movie game so I forgive it for being garbage
-Gran Turismo 6: I loved #5, this one just feels unfinished compared to it.
-GTA IV: Just couldn't
-Half-Life 2: I tried, it was fun, but I couldn't complete it.

Finally, any Assassin's Creed after 2. They just couldn't hold me in.

I don't think any game really qualifies for this except Risen. That is the only game in the last few years that I've started and haven't wanted to finish.

Fallout 3 and Kingdoms of Amalur.

The latter should have been obvious, since I only bought the game because the music was composed by Grant Kirkhope.

I actually had fun with both games, it's just that after a while my interest started to fade, to the point where I had thoughts of returning KoA which, by the way, I've never, ever done to a game before except for Final Fantasy XIII(but that was a trade-in, as the game came bundled with my old 360).

I still have a lot to do on both, especially FO3 where I didn't even touch the DLC content.

Another I have trouble enjoying is Dragon Age: Origins. I liked it the first time, but every subsequent playthrough was pretty boring even with completely different characters.

'Course, I discovered the "Slap Morrigan" mod, so I may get back into it if there's also a "Punch Alistar in the Face" mod to go with it.

"Bad Morrigan! (slap)"

Dragon Age Origins, Borderlands and Oblivion.

I DID beat the main quest and one or two quest lines in Oblivion, but the egg-like faces kept me from really enjoying it much.

Borderlands, I actually progressed quite far in it, and held great love for the game for about a week. Before I finished it though, I just lost my taste for it completely. I having played it for more than fifteen minutes at a time since.

Dragon Age was just... nope.

Fallout 1 and 2.
I love 3 and New Vegas so I bought the first 2 games. The semi turn based fighting(or whatever is the proper term) is just frustrating for me. I've tried to grind through it several times but I lose interest.

Gears of War
I'd rather watch somebody else play. It's a shame too, they looked so beautiful when I first got my 360.

Dark Souls
This is one of those games that I actually really liked. Getting my ass kicked constantly was refreshing even if it was infuriating at the same time. It's just so rare that I have enough spare time to tackle the game that I gave up.

I'm surprised so many are calling out Bethesda games.

Oblivion/Skyrim - I liked Morrowind, perhaps because it was the first ES game I played, but after that...even when I want to like them, I just can't get into them enough to get past the first few play sessions. :P

Theme Hospital - too limited and repetitive, I quickly got the gist of the goals and simple/limited methods to get there and got bored. It has such a huge period rep. and I love Dungeon Keeper but ... yeah.

Arcanum.

Starcraft.

Most modern-day shooters/fps, especially if they're "I'm in the army now" settings.

Children of the Nile - despite my love of city-builders, I could never quite get into that one. It's not that I disliked it, but it didn't have the obsessive-addictive factor for me at all.

Many others over the years.

Assassin's Creed 3 - The only Assassin's Creed game I couldn't finish. The game just made me lose my spark for the series in general.

Prototype - I usually love these type of games like the Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. But this game couldn't hold my attention for long. Probably because being the Hulk is ten times more fun.

Half Life 2 - I honestly don't get what the big deal is about this game being praised as toilet paper's next coming. The gameplay was pretty meh to me (no thanks to that horrifically boring airboat level). I'm sure the story is good, but I just can't force myself to go through with it and like this game like everyone else. Never got past Ravenholm and not because it's difficult or scary or whatever (like what people seems to label it as something to compare to Halo's Library) it was just boring!

Fable - Guess it didn't help I started playing this series from the third game (which was apparently the worse game of the series). Good thing it was just a free game on Xbox LIVE. Still, this entire series in general could never grab my interest.

And then there is the list of games that I really did enjoy but couldn't finish for some reason. I just get to a point in the game (sometimes quite far into it), tell myself I'll play it again later, and then never play it. And I really want to play these games but I just can't! Mirror's Edge, Dishonored (I am at the very end of it), Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, State of Decay, Just Cause 2, and a crap ton of games on the PC. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against these games. I consider Dishonored an absolutely fantastic games and if not one of my favorite stealth games I've played. But I don't know, this habit is killing me.
