Games you paid "full price" for

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 7:49 am

Games that you paid full price for at release or around release. Of courses there are some exceptions of games, like MW2 which still is $60 in stores (and $65 on XBL).

For me, Super Street Fighter 4, Halo Reach, Black Ops. Halo was meh imo.

This year I'm definitely gonna be getting Skyrim at release paying full price for it. I also might grab Battlefield 3 at release.

You guys?

Red Dead Redemption

Fallout New Vegas

those are the only games I've ever payed full price for. But I'm planning to change that this year since I'm buying Deus Ex: HR, L.A. Noire, Skyrim, and Rage.

Too many to list.

This year I'm not spending much besides purchasing the inevitable CE of Skyrim.

Recently:

Battlefield: BC2 and it's expansion
Reach (also thought it was meh)
Dragon Age (technically. I bought it close to release but still ended up getting it for like $40 from some kind of discount)
Red Dead (i think, can't remember)
Fallout: NV

And I've already pre-ordered and paid for Skyrim. Will be switching that over to the CE once it is revealed. :D

Last year, I got Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Fallout: New Vegas at full price. This year, the only one I'm definitely getting at full price is Skyrim, although it seems as though there are some really great games coming out this year. It's just that I'm not familiar with the related series and am still contemplating buying some of these games' predecessors, let alone the games themselves.

none in the last year.

Skyrim will probably be the first I pay full price for in many years

Actually, if gift cards don't count as discounted price, Pokemon Black/White will be the next I'll pay full price for (since I have a gift card :P)

I want to get the collectors edition, I just hope it comes with a normal case I can put next to my other games. I diddnt like the Oblivion case, so much work to open it up and get the cd out and put it all back together lol. If it doesnt come with a regular case I'll get it if someone at Gamestop can hook me up with a empty case and cover.

none in the last year.

None :P

I don't play many games and the few I do play I don't often think are worth the full price

Bad Company 2 and Vietnam, which I think are the only games I've ever paid full price for.

Dragon Age: Awakening and Trine are the only games from 2010 I paid full price for. Everything else were gifts. And though I'd be willing to pay full price for Skyrim, Trine 2, Guild Wars 2, and Dark Souls...chances are many of those will be gifts as well.

Nearly every game I own was purchased when released.

Last year I purchased:

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Starcraft 2: collectors edition
Halo Reach
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Super Street Fighter IV
Mass Effect 2
Fable 3
Fallout New Vegas

I never bought a single used original xbox game. I had roughly 30.

I'd feel dirty if I payed full price for any game released in the last year. They're all pretty much rental material.

Fallout New Vegas...I rarely spend more than $30 for a game, but Bethesda games always get me in the store early though.

I haven't paid full price for any games in the past year, and I rarely do. When Skyrim comes out I might buy it at full price.

I remember one game I did pay full price for was The Witcher enhanced edition, and the price wasn't really high, but the game wasn't as good as everything I read about it implied. Dragon Age is good though, but idk if my computer will run the sequel, so might have to wait.

Last game I bought full price was New Vegas on release day. I have waited 9 months for Fallout 3 to drop in price, it didn't so I ended up paying full price for that as well. That is why I paid full price for New Vegas. I believe I got my monies worth. Next game I will pay for full price on release day is Skyrim. All other games, I will wait. I find most games now are not worth the money on Release day and at full price later on.

I can't rememeber any others since I usally wait till they go down in price before I get them.

Considering every other game I don't buy from Amazon is usually used...
Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable

I think it was because I was upgrading my computer to the last form last year.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable

That reminds me I usually preorder Atlus games at full price through Amazon when there's a game I want. Their prices are lower and they include bonuses like soundtracks or artbooks with the first copies.

For the vast majority of games I wait for the price to drop a bit, but Alpha Protocol, Infinite Space and Dragon Quest IX were the games I paid full price for last year. So far I only expect Okamiden be something I pay full price for this year, maybe The Last Guardian too if it's released here this year :P

Latest was Dead Space 2, before that, New Vegas i think (money well spent, (or perhaps wasted :hehe:) on both accounts). Next one will be Dragon Age 2, after that The Last Guardian, Mass Effect 3 or Skyrim, whichever comes first :D

Forgot that came out last year then again Amazon lists stuff by the date an order was placed...

Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Infinite Space

Probably end up canceling a few preorders if certain Atlus games are announced soon.

Not even Skyrim!

I really wanna get Skyrim, it may be the only game I'm down to drop $60 for, but it all depends on whats happening with school and work. It comes out at the end of the semester lol

You shoulda kept SSF4. SC2 and Black Ops will hold their prices for sure.

Last game I bought full price was New Vegas on release day. I have waited 9 months for Fallout 3 to drop in price, it didn't so I ended up paying full price for that as well. I grabbed New Vegas for $30 or $40 on boxing day. I remember it was regularly $65. I was at Gamestop the other day and saw it for $40.

I havent been able to find a copy of Fallout 3 GOTY edition, I really wanna play through it, can't come to play through FNV again.

Dogz 2 for the WIi.

Bought it over Christmas for the kids. It had cute dogs that you can customize, and then play games with it. It came with about 0 directions, and it turned out to be a kind of RPG. perfect for a 4 or 6 year old  After that experience, we won't buy any games without somehow testing them first. Edit: well now that I think abou tit, it wasn't full price, but in the cut-out bin on sale.

what's on the horizon? Erm, nothing? Maybe a dance game because it gets the kids sweaty (I don't like them being sedate while playing video games). This probably won't be full price either considerring how "current" we are with games LOL

NOthing spectacular

I really like the Kinect for that purpose. The developers of that gets big time props. It gets people moving. More importantly it promotes getting kids moving and being active. I haven't tried it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6znM4q04Ms.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThMFMVZBCRs&feature=related

I havent tried it, but if it gives you points based on how well you move and coordinate yourself, getting those points is motivation to get/keep active/more fit.

Dance Dance Revolution is really good, you gotta be able to move to play that game on the high difficulties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzIpINXAdnQ&feature=related, mabey that might be something you wanna look into?

I'm looking for one to get, I want the pad and game combo, actually want to get 2 pads, for those video game parties/get togethers. I want it to 1) add to my library/collection 2) learn to play to I can compete with people :D

We have the WiiFit Plus, but hardly use it.

Thanks for the heads-up! :foodndrink:
