Games you played in your childhood

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:51 am

The first games that come to mind from my childhood are the first games I've ever owned for the Gameboy, which were Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and Mortal Kombat 2.

For Sega Genesis - I remember the Sonic Games, as well as Dune: the Battle for Arrakis.

I never owned a Super Nintendo (blasphemous, I know)

For PSX, there of course were the Final Fantasy and Parasite Eve games, as well as this 1 game I played over at a friend's house which name escapes me (It was a point and click where you play as a talking dragon in a mid-evil era, where you are trying to become a knight)

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
I got Morrowind free with a video card when I was in my late 30s / early 40s. Has anyone seen my walker? Also, you kids stay out of my yard. :stare:

Any of the mainstream NES games and shovelware, as well as some more obscure titles. My favorite will always be the classic Mega Man series.

Chutes & Ladders was the bomb. :tops:

Monopoly, RISK, Rack-O, Scrabble, Checkers, table rod soccer (parents had folding wooden one that you could play sitting on the floor, it was awesome), Pente, Chinese Checkers.

...and Atari PacMan & Breakout, of course.

Yeesh, video games I played "when I was young" is Apple II games starting in 1980. Can't really remember most of them, but some of the biggies were Ultima 1 (through 7), Wizardry 1/2/3, the original Bard's Tale, some of the SSI "Gold Box" D&D games. Some of the Sierra Online "graphic adventure" games like Mystery House. EA games back when EA was just Electronic Arts.... Hmm, what else.... the original Prince of Persia and Karateka.

(And then plenty of small games - the Apple II was chock full of little arcade, platforming, and strategy games. Many of them pirated... computers were pretty "wild west" in those days.)

edit: you know, it's pretty amazing what they were able to do with 48k of RAM and 140k disc drives.

Did anyone in the 80's play http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleuth_(video_game) on their awesome old school computers? Took me a while to remember what the name of that was, but it was the only "pc" game we had as kids.

Born in 1991, so of course, I remember all the Nintendo 64 games like a cloud over my childhood.

Especially Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, etc.

I was... 12 or 13 when I played Morrowind. Not necessarily my childhood, but I was pretty young, and I spent a good 6 or more years learning everything about that game. Still my favorite game ever, and most likely will be for the remainder of my life.

Oh yeah, Stratego! That was fun. :D
I had a Stretch Armstrong doll once too. And Star Trek:OS action figures. Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty & Sulu had many a phaser battle in my parents living room.
