gamesas.com - Suggested Improvements

Post » Sun Jan 11, 2009 5:27 am

(fixed) - Black Grid overlay on un-highlighted images makes them difficult to look at on systems with high resolutions.
(fixed) - There is no Search Function, Bar, or Field to locate Users, Discussions and/or Posts.
(fixed)- There is no Subtle Messaging System to contact users privately.
(fixed) - There is no Edit Post function on User’s Posts.
- There is no foreseeable limit to the amount of text that can be included in a single post. (I personally like this)
- There is no way to Sort or Priorities only Discussions one has participated in already.
- Font size in Forums makes large bodies of text difficult to read without resizing browser display.
- High contrast, black and white color palette is difficult to read for extended periods of time.
- Users with Names longer than 17 letters, causes overlapping when posting, where Screen Name overlaps TimeStamp.
(fixed) - Discussion Pages are not paginated requiring the User to scroll all previously contributed posts in a thread.
(fixed) - Discussion Labels do not include the most recent Poster’s Name and instead include the Discussion Creator’s Name.
- There is no way to Lock a Discussion when posting allowing other users to flood the thread with redundant additions.

- there is no way to pin or sticky a discussion.
- certain bugs in code cause loading errors.
- submitting a post bug causes content to delete itself.
- post counts are glitched.
- there is a distinct lack of BBCode.

Can we have the old website please?

And when all of you say Crysis 2 won't need a delay because it can be patched, this right here is the classic Crytek patching example. Just give us the old forums. All it needed in the first place was less flash dependancy and a new background. If it ain't broke don't fix it. =/

This is a solid start, minus Kuro's post :P

Keep the input coming. If we can get one centralised point of input then it's easier to manage and chase up.

Cheers :)

Hmm, well here's a few:

- If we're going to stick with this block style of viewing topics. Then I suggest placing different colours, and making the text of that certain box unbold. In other words, make the text look normal, no style. But make sure the box is highlighted in a colour which matches this site.

- Pinning topics. This is definitely needed. In most cases, it's in all forums around the net, I don't see why this forum doesn't have it.

- BBCodes. This is also needed. I know that quoting is already a BBCode, but hopefully more additions can be added, like a table code, so we can sort things out (This is an optional BBCode tag).

- An Edit button. Is definitely a big plus!

- Avatars/Signatures. Hopefully this can come into play. I like the nanosuit avatar, but hopefully a feature that allows us to add our own custom avatars would be a big plus. Signatures would apply with this as well.

- Extending the forums view width. If were going to have signatures, then I can assume you'd guys extend the size of the box model (Basically this topic view). It's very small. And anyone who wants to show a great signature needs a fairly great size, or it won't be a signature at all.

- Increase font size. Make it the size of what Crymod has. I'm fine with that/ But this one is very small.

- Customize our profiles. Something that seems to be forgotten. Where's the user panel? I'd assume this is where some of the important functionalities come from such as PM, Profile customization etc.

This is all for now. I hope my small contribution can do something big. I don't want to return to the old gamesas since the design was horrible IMO. I like this one, as long as there is more graphics, and it gets it's improvements.

- Excessively long thread titles causes cropping when text is overlapped by discussion border edges
(fixed) - Dashes appear as an underscore when entering text into Submit Fields

you guys should have a forum for sugestions on crysis 2 or 3 on how to improve stuff in the future for example your charecters look very realistic but like most games the eyes dont move during your videos even a slight movment would be enough to make the charecters much more belivable curently in your video the eyes really lose the charecters belevablity and are almost distracting. it might be to late to fix this for this game but maby you can do it for crysis 3. please look into this and dont just diregard it. i thank you can posibly re-render the videos with this fix at no extra strain on the systems and the story willl be much more belivable. thank you for your time

In a recent Crymod news post, they said they moved it since gamesas got a new website. It seems suitable at Crymod if you ask me. There's no real problem there since it's all modding related. :)

Maybe Crytek should choose some or at least 1 moderator from them or from our comunity to ban trolls (like crysis 231 and crysistek)

(fixed) - When quoting someone, their screen name is not included with the quote which can make reading posts with multiple quotes confusing. Credit should be given where due.

With all honesty, we would have to be very lucky if even ONE of the things suggested here will actually be implemented.

But, as always, hope dies last.

Get rid of unnecessary flash and javascript. The old gamesas was perfect sans the flash menu.

- Recent news posts show old timestamp for original poster.
- Inability to flag original poster.
- Missing avatar to distinguish volunteer moderators from the general community.
- The ability to flag a developers post.
- Multiple post quote function can sometimes bug and cause the last post layer to not show content.
- Sign in menu still shows old board message regarding old gamesas accounts.

We should be having a major update over the next couple of weeks bringing some basic and advanced features to the website.
