gamesas Forum Issues

Updated the OP with status' on points. Added in a few points from Neo's thread which was mostly redundant now with the features that the forum brings but were still relevant information.

Quick reply and the quoting issue appears to have been resolved, as well as threads not displaying as read when they are. Yay web team :)

The email notification does not work for me. I've checked my user CP and have all notifications enabled (except pop up on new private message). The threads I'm subscribed to do not send me an email when a new reply is added. Is this a know bug? Or perhaps just isolated to me?

New issue, when you use an Itouch or Ipad. The page is much slower than before the recent update to the forums.

Seems to work fine on my iPhone 3GS. The site isn't built specifically for mobile devices so you may run into bugs or issues. I can't guarantee that mobile issues would get priority over other things that we wish to get sorted with the site first but by all means, please report any issues you encounter and we'll try to get them resolved ASAP. :)

For some reason when i'm logging on, the logon screen will do nothing just sit there and try to load my account without making any progress. I had to restart my browser to fix this problem but it keeps happening from time to time.

Coincidentally, it happens a lot when ever I use Ie8 and google chrome. I don't notice this little glitch whenever I use my Mozilla.

I have recently experienced that issue also, updated the OP to include it and the subscription email failure.

EDIT: Now included Bananasplit's suggestions to the Original Post.

What browser (s) were you using when it happens?

Dear Crytek.

Suggestions for this site:
1. Add an image resizing script. It's very annoying for me to have to scroll left and right to see a large image that's been posted. It's probably worse for people who have monitors that are low resolution. It's not hard to make this script and if the designers need help, I would be willing to supply some code and/or explanation of how to write it.

2. I'd prefer if the forum was centered and/or fluid. It's sized so that it would look centered on a small 1024x768 screen, but on a 1680x1050 screen it looks pretty small and it's not centered at all.

I've had this problem a couple of times myself, we're looking into it and hopefully it'll be resolved soon :)

[Unresolved] Login Hang. For some reason when logging on, the logon screen will do nothing but just sit there and try to load the account without making any progress.

[Unresolved] The email notification does not work. Checked user CP and have all notifications enabled (except pop up on new private message). The threads subscribed to do not send an email when a new reply is added.

[Unresolved] Subjects/authors/date information being doubled up in each post.

All of these are work in progress, hopefully resolved soon.

[TBA] Emoticons. Again, this allows the forum boards to be a little bit more friendly feeling. :)

This will be included with our next update.

All of the other suggested improvements have been taken under consideration but no steps are being taken towards implementing them at this time.

Many thanks to admin for their ongoing efforts in making this forum a great experience :)

A suggestion:
Could you maybe look into a "New posts" search function? This will pull all threads with new posts across all sub-forums into one search result, sorted by date & time starting from the newest to the oldest. Will be much easier than to visit every sub-forum one by one.

A lot of core functionality remains, it's just not visible through the current theme.

The web team are working on a bunch of updates at the moment. Hopefully have more info on that soon :)

Nice idea, I will have it added to the idea list until it becomes a real featured option and not just core functionality hiding beneath the surface.

Then again, What about a function to delete spam based posts by thread creators and moderators to control un-wanted spam. A recent thread I made (http://www.gamesas.com/forums/topic5623/) suffered because of spam, I'll try my best to salvage it best I can.

It would be unethical to give everyone moderator privileges.

In any case, the thread has been reopened, so please continue the discussion on it there or PM me if you wish, as to not derail this thread.

Cheers!
