Gamesave from oblivion, beneficial for Skyrim gamesave?

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 2:26 am

I just had an idea that if you have a save game from oblivion, you could get some sort of inheritance from your character in oblivion to your character in skyrim. 'but they are not related' I realise the characters from both games arent related. Someone could of stolen an item or some amount of money from your oblivion character, who is a relative or good friend of your skyrim character or any other scenario. I wouldnt mind having something like a small amount of gold to get me started or a really long quest which eventually leads up to you getting a weapon or some cool armour (wouldnt just be one quest, but many linking together) or even an item which increases a skill by 3 or so points 1 time. Im just throwing ideas out there

Would you like something like this? if so then what sort of thing would you like from having an oblivion save

Idk they did this kinda in Mass effect but i think it would be rather hard to implement.

consider they even took the effort to make such a gap...I think Beth is trying to make it clear there isn′t suppose to be a link.

Nope, I have no interest in importing anything from previous saves.

New game, new character. Unless you'd like to play some 200 year old geezer sitting in front of his porch all day shooing dragons off his lawn ;)

Also there would be a lot of problems in trying to import gamedata of that type in a game that utilizes not only a new engine but also new character generation system and skillset.

I wouldn't mind getting a seal of heroism or some beneficial item that proves "me" the player saved the world :) but to transfer your character would be near impossible since creating your character look is different and it's a new engine. Still I wouldn't mind some kind of trophy

You will start out as a prisoner in what we can't legally call rags, and you will like it.

I see you got this idea from other games coming out lately and it is a good idea for those games. Doesn't really apply to TES games however, as they are all a blank slate when you start. This is done on purpose to give you multiple options and freedoms in creating your hero.

It isn't like Skyrim happens right after Oblivion ends. There's a 200 year gap. Plus your Oblivion character isn't related to your Skyrim character.

You realize that Skryim takes place oh..100+ years after Oblivion happened right?
No, this is a terrible idea.

They changed the facegen version (in fact, we dont even know if they are using facegen at all), there are heavy balance issues to consider, the skill list its not the same, we don′t know if there are attributes, lore-wise they can`t have a good reason for the hero of cyrodiil to be alive and kicking ass in skyrim, it would be too hard considering all the number of choices you had in oblivion, etc.

Can′t be done.

Well, actually, my Skyrim character is related to my Oblivion character. . . But, really, I don't care if they impliment such a feature or not, I'll just play without it anyway.

I'm going to say no on this one. Skyrim is suppose to be different from Oblivion and yet how would it be different if we had some reward for beating Oblivion.

I would say no to this too, however it would be kind of interesting if there was some kind of reference to Oblivion (not unheard of in a game series lol) like a simple book that tells the story of the great Matin Septim and how he singlehandedly defeated Dagon with only his Blades soldiers. That way it tells the story how we felt it, we do the legwork, he gets the credit.

I really don't feel the need to tie the two games together in this way.

But really, I'm not sure how that would work with a new engine...

When you import an Oblivion save the Adoring Fan will stalk you through Skyrim (elves have really long lifespans right?). That would be a bonus (or penalty)!

I'd be plenty happy with rumors about what happened to the Champion of Cyrodiil after the end of the game, assuming anyone still talks about that 200 years later :P

Barring that, a reference or two in books or something.

Definite NO to having a direct link or to finding the Champion's hoarde or something.
