Gamestop midnight launch event plans?

Post » Tue Oct 11, 2011 2:27 am

I have 3 Gamestops that are near where I live, and I've asked two of the three of them what their plans are for the Skyrim midnight release. Depending on the Gamestop, and the game, they occasionally have small events planned to keep the line of people entertained. The first Gamestop (The one I'm currently pre-ordered at) had no idea as of yet. The other never does anything fun for midnights. Do any of you know if your Gamestop is doing anything special?

Aside from that, assuming you will be going to the midnight event, what will you be doing while you wait? And how early do you plan on getting there to wait?

My local gamestop never does midnight releases because the management is horrible. It's far and away the worst gamestop i've ever been too. The next closest gamestop also said no because they only plan to do a midnight for MW3 that week.

Good thing my local wal-mart is 24/7.

aafes does not like it when gamestop does them because they have to keep the PX open. They are only allowing it for the BF3 and CoD releases. (Which svcks as I am not getting either)

I'm going to the midnight launch. My Gamestop expects it to be one of the biggest of the year.

My Gamestop is doing a mid-night release that I will be going to but I don't know if there will be any "events".

Eh, hopefully I won't have to worry about it and I'll get a free copy from my relatives within the distribution company before the 11th anyway.

Your gamestop is in the physical PX building? When I was in the military, our gamestop was in the same area but right outside so aafes didn't have to do anything special.

My GameStop has over 400 reservations. I'll probably sit in my car, watch the line until it dies, and pick it up around 1:00 am when the line dies down.

They just shoved mine in were the powezone uses to be, not a very well managed base. (don't tell anyone I said that though)

I got 4 Gamestop's in a 10 mile radius. Two of them have midnight release. I work until 11PM that night, so I'll be there to pick mine up.

My gamestop always has huge plasma screens set up everywhere for us to play whatever we want while we wait. We also get free pizza and swag! They even have couches and chairs set up outside for the people that want to sit. It makes going to Midnight Launch all the more worthwhile for me :)

Well, you said PX which means army so it not being a very well managed base comes as no surprise. :D

Me and around ten of my friends from school are going to storm the mall with the Skyrim music playing on a boombox! I'll scream out "CHARGE, FOR SKYRIM! CHARGE, FOR YOUR FREEDOM!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then we'll charge through the mall galliantly singing the trailer song :D

I've got a job interview at my local Gamestop this Wednesday. Either I'll be working the release and go home to play afterwards, or I'll go home as soon as I get the game at the midnight release and play.

Hopefully, I won't have to work Saturday.................................................................................

My main GS does that too. It's really cool to meet a bunch of new people into the game you are anticipating so much. You get to share ideas and I always learn something new.

Got it! I'll also probably post my reaction video to the opening sequence to Skyrim. Going off of how I freakin' nerdgasm'd during Oblivion's opening, chances are it'll be pretty funny for Skyrim :D

I don't think the Gamestop near me is having a midnight opening.
I need to go ask how many Skyrim reservations are there, I doubt its that much, people here tend to focus on the shooters instead of the RPGs.
I have a bad experience buying in Walmart (bought a game, it had no CD)
So gamestop for me, of course I will have to wait till my mom gets home so I can get a ride....not having a car svcks

I have two nearby and I don't know what either of them is doing.

Mostly because I don't care about showing up at midnight to pick up a game I won't be able to play until 17 hours later.

I really want to go to one, but I'm not sure if my GS is doing one.

I'll give them a call the week of release.

Skyrim isn't as important to him as work/life/friends/girls/family.

Obviously his priorities are messed up.
