Gamestop's Pre-Order Incentive

Post » Sat Jun 18, 2011 4:28 pm

Morrowind came with a map? My GOTY edition (PC version) didn't come with one.

That's weird... Morrowind always came with a map.

Its all true. But if you wait for 6 weeks, they say you'll be able to download the cloth map for free.

If it's a joke, then I don't get it. What's funny about it? Where's the punchline? It also says for Assassin's Creed Revelations you get an extended gameplay mission, a weapons capacity upgrade, and a multiplayer skin. Haha? Yeah... that's hilarious.

Yeah, I think the pre-order incentives are real. The jokes are supposed to be in the names of the "awards" the games received.

Not always. I got a map for my first Xbox and PC versions, but the GOTY and latest European versions that I bought had no maps in them at all.

I don't quite think it's possible to download a physical object.

theory?

Oh yes, I have been obsessing about certain things. It's making me more and more pissed. But I'm just a angry person I guess.

I just want separate pouldrens and separate greaves.. and the chance to increase the draw distance for bushes, tree's, and grass for the PC. Is that really to much to ask for?

Yep.

I'm looking forward to the full 3-D rendered map of the game world that zooms out from your character's location.

Next to that a physical map seems so old-hat.

Also a digital map is better for the environment (given that its not a net loss of energy since you're already using the energy to play the game anyway).

A gold-plated map painted with a lickable aphrodisiac couldn't save Gamestop from being the worst choice on Earth for PC gamers

Getting angry over totally unverified information is not rational.

What the hell does any of that have to do with a Gamestop preorder special?

It's a joke the first page of it says "Introducing the totally made-up pre-order incentive awards for the hits of E3"

Yes I am aware, and disappointed in myself.

No, but in all seriousness I probably just need to not read the forums, as some people do give very believable solutions to my questions.

I agree everyone should get a map. I also argue that the pre-order incentive should be better, since I have pre-ordered.

Mine did too (the Ubi Soft GOTY PC edition)
I'm quite happy to hear the preorder incentive might be a silly cloth map because hopefully it means they aren't going down the route Obsidian took with FONV of including exclusive ingame content on them

I just read that Gamestop's pre-order incentive for Skyrim is a physical map... but does that mean that if we don't pre-order from gamestop that we don't get a map? Oblivion came with a map... Morrowind came with a map... and you didn't have to pre-order from gamestop (or anywhere else) to get it for either of them! We all deserve an awesome map!

Dude, if you read the beginning of the article, you would know that the pre-order bonus map was a joke ...as in not real. No one knows what the bonus is yet.

The title of the add reads:
"INTRODUCING THE TOTALLY MADE-UP PRE-ORDER INCENTIVE AWARDS FOR THE HITS OF E3"

A map that's not much of a pre-order incentive, especially when I could just copy it off of the UESP a couple of days after launch.

The pre-order incentives are indeed real. The totally made-up part is the names of the "awards". Gamestop has these incentives http://www.gamestop.com/news/e3/most-anticipated-games-e3-2011/ as well, so I don't think it's some kind of a joke.
