Gaming Let Downs

Post » Wed Jun 30, 2010 2:42 pm

Black & White 2 - No multiplayer, Less Creatures, Less miracles, AI was awful, and had a few game crashing bugs.

B&W 2 Expansion - more of the same " Now with more bugs!" Like only being able to use your epics once, warning bells ringing nonstop, and game crashing bugs.

Spore probably has been mentioned a bunch of times.

Still I kind of feel...jerked by Blizzard I guess like they want as much money as they can. Though this isn't to say i'm not going to play it i'll just wait until they release all 3 chapters in a sort of special GOTY edition that goes for like $50. Was still miffed I went to my local target and found the game cost $59 instead of $49 for PC. Will never pay $60 for a PC game and the only thing that will make me do that is if it's a CE of some type or has special goodies inside.

It's no different than BioWare's Mass Effect being marketed as a trilogy from the getgo. And lets not forget the original Warcraft cost $60 in 1994. ;) If people will pay $60 for a five hour console shooter, I have no problem with paying $60 to support a great game.

I've heard some little rumors that it's been acquired by another company with a better reputation of releasing games. However I have a feeling this game will remain vapor ware as some say until hell freezes over.

Mass Effect 2
Crackdown 2

And many more, but those are the big 2. Perhaps Halo 2 and Halo 3 as well.

Mass Effect 2: Stripped of all customization elements and turned into a strict straight to the action shooter.

Starcraft 2 (Campaign): They should've killed her. The storyline was very personal, and was not on a global scale.

Bioshock 2: Just a very mediocre experience. There was nothing compelling about the game that made me want to play it again.

Halo ODST: And you thought DOOM 3 was too dark...the halo reach beta was a pretty big let down as well

No, they should have given you the choice to do one or the other. On second thought that would make the campaigns in the next two games a bit wonky with the possibilities

Spoiler tags would've been nice. Whether they killed her or not.

Theres several hers in Starcraft 2, Which one do you think i'm talking about?

If I wanted to be specific I would've just put the name.

There is only one "very personal" her in Starcraft 2 that that could refer to.

Anyways, I guess I'll find out who you were talking about in the... slightly before the ending. :P

I agree with him. It's very obvious which "her" you mean since there is only one with some significance

Find it quite interesting that some say Halo 3 and later Halo games were a let down. Found the Halo series to be nothing more than Hype after playing both Halo 1 and Halo 2 with my friend on his systems. Story line was very good, but gameplay wise I just don't see what all the hype is about. This really annoys me when some people start bashing on Half-Life saying Halo is X times better than Half-Life will ever be.

Right now my biggest worry is being disappointed by Portal 2 when it comes out next year. They announced it'll have co-op play with challenges setup specifically for co-op which has me a bit concerned. However even though I bash valve over L4D2 HL1, HL2, and Portal have really astounded me.

GTA IV disappointed me, but not at first. I enjoyed playing through the game for the first 30 or so hours, but then I realized how incredibly boring and lacking in things to do it was in comparison to it's predecessors. They made the game far, far too serious, and the only "fun" vehicle to drive was an attack helicopter which couldn't do much damage anyway. Whereas it's predecessors had monster trucks, tanks, parachutes, commercial airliners, privates jets, tanks, jetpacks... the list goes on and on. Don't forget about the fun cheat codes they had (no gravity, everything moves faster than normal, etc), while GTA IV had phenomenally standard cheat codes (Spawn vehicle, infinite ammo, change the weather, and boring stuff like that). GTA IV was a disappointment for me because it wasn't nearly as fun as it's predecessors. Luckily Saints Row has picked up where GTA left off quite nicely, and unless Rockstar get's it's act together with GTA V I'll just play Saints Row 3 instead.

Same here. San Andreas was so full of stuff to do it was insane.

And Age of Empires III was a HUGE disappointment. I loved AoE II. Great game.

Warcraft III did not live up to WC II's standards. Same with Civ III not living up to Civ II.

What is up with these 3rd games?

Final Fantasy 13 was really disappointing. Forgive me if I'm not entranced by running down hallways for 60 hours...

Bought it when it was new too, full price.

Okay, another addition. Mafia 2.
As I came to play it today, I saw that the story-telling the devs can manage really stays up there. But the game itself... Gods. They made the same mistakes Rockstar did in GTA4. Too often, too long, and simply tedious driving - and once you're where you should actually go to, there's nothing really exciting happening.
