Gaming Nostalgia

Zelda=awesome.
I could go back and play any game I played on N64 and SNES and NES without a problem.

There are games that I've played today that are absolutely horrid in comparison.

I still play my old games fairly regularly, there aren't many that haven't stood the test of time(actually, I can't really think of any that haven't). I've recently played Earthbound, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire, Super Mario RPG, Heroes 3, various Mario brother game remakes for the DS/Advance. There are all still as much fun as I remember them being when I was younger.

Not sure if these have been mentioned.. going to show my age and though I have tried, I've never been a consoler.

First started gaming in Jr. High (middle skhool) and these come right to mind.

Apple ][ (monochrome): Pacman and Donkey Kong
Apple ][c (8 color, iirc): King's Quest I-III
--- Never had a C64 ---
Amiga 500 (We miss you, Amiga): Dungeon Master and Infocom Text Adventures (Zorks, Bureaucracy, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy...)
Amiga 2000 (AT Card and Mac (2??) cards for hardware and software emulation): FidoNet: First online/forum games, Lemmings and Anband TK (graphical).
Amiga 2500 (with Video Toaster installed): Lemmings, Dungeon Master ][: CBS and the final Dungeon Master (unofficially ]I[)
--- Commodore went bankrupt and I sold my Amiga rig to a company in Hawaii ---
PC/Win 3.11 (Northwestern brand 386 and spent $1200): Ultima I-III and welcome to DOS hell (for gaming).

PC ever since: Gaming grew as my PC/Winderz grew.
Elder Scrolls I-4, Diablo I-III, Fallout 3 & 2... most of the greats.

I've never had a Mac besides said emulator and had an Xbox360, but sold it after a year.

Yes, considering all the old games I love I still play, regularly (like at least once a week). I play Mechwarrior 2 all the time, Doom all the time, lots of N64 games, etc.

Nope, nostalgia comes into play, but it does not cloud my enjoyment or judgement of the games. They are good, solid games.

I think I would have to see if I could download them nowadays, since the ones I had were either on 5.25 and 3.5 floppy discs.
games like Eye of the Beholder, Pool of Radiance, Summer Games, Spy Hunter, Might and Magic, and Stunt Car Racer.

Yeah. It was announced with a handful of other titles that were never heard about afterwards. Did you get the chance to see the http://www.computerandvideogames.com/225202/news/eas-new-road-rash-leaked/? Pretty cool I must say. I can play these games anytime. They have lost nothing over the years.

I'll be buying a PS2 soon and get all the games I loved as a kid. Such as the Jak series, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Kingdom Hearts, etc.

Still have my SNES and Dreamcast though. Loved these consoles. Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country are my all time favorites.

I've been playing a lot of old games from my childhood lately(Zelda, Spyro, Donkey Kong, Monkey Island, Jazz Jackrabbit, Super Mario World, etc.) and most of them actually have lived up to the memories.

The only games that I've dusted off recently that haven't lived up to the memories are the Crash Bandicoot games. How did I ever like them? The angle/depth problems are awful, and they're mostly bare bone platformers without much in the way of replay value(the first one especially).
