There are currently MMO's in developement (and some at the BETA stage, DC Universe online for example) for consoles. FFXIV Is an MMO due for release on the PS3 (maybe 360 too, havent checked if that was confirmed) in march. If you have a backwards compatable PS3 you can run FFXI too. Then theres games like MAG, which prove the PS3 is capable of running games with good graphics and high amounts of players (240~+ On one map?) With extremely rare cases of lag. Personally, I cant stand playing FPS's on the PC. Sure, PC gamers harp on about its supposed superiority. But I'm far more comfortable with and perform better with a controler over a keyboard and mouse. I also believe it was confirmed that the Crysis engine was being adapted to conoles too? Or was that just a rumour.
But I'll give you the RTS thing, they do svck on consoles.
But I defy any one who say that consoles dumb down their games. Consoles provide the huge budgets needed for these games to exist.
Everything I've heard about GT5 is that the graphics were good, but not as amazingly realistic good that they were hyped up to be. I have no opinion on the matter, because I hate the series. There have been a few MMORPGs in the past for consoles, they generally don't fare as well. WoW, for example, wouldn't work on the consoles without a mouse/keyboard because of the way the skills are handled. FFXIV svcks too, so that's not going to help it at all. As for Crysis, the only news I could find about it on the consoles says that they can't handle it (but that is an article from http://www.joystiq.com/2006/08/30/crytek-says-360-and-ps3-cant-handle-crysis/).
Really, the console vs PC debate is all about preference. I prefer FPS games on the PC, because I've spent more time with them and am more adept at using the keyboard and mouse vs the controller. I think it offers a much more accurate way to aim with a mouse than with a control stick. It's all preference though, and someone who has always played on consoles would have a different opinion.
