I don't think these people who are saying it's not in are getting this from an actual source. I'm pretty sure blocking or bashing won't be possible while duel wielding staves but I'm hopeful that it will be possible with a staff and an empty hand or a two handed staff. I don't see why not considering the use of torches. I dont believe there has been any info on the subject

I could have sworn I heard we could bash enemies with a staff. I thought it was similar to the shield bash. I could be completely wrong here though.

Well they did say something along the lines of to bash with whatever your holding press RT+X or whatever, they didn't specify if that included a staff though. I think they did say you couldn't slash ar stab with a staff though

Throw yourself in next time, and rid us of your STUPIDITY! - best quote ever... but no staff bashing sadly. And ontop of that, Bretons got nerfed.

Will you please name your source on this?

Well, according to the known race bonuses... Altmer still get a boost to magicka, and Bretons not only don't get a boost to magicka, they don't even have dragonskin anymore. I think all they do is absorb lightning.

What I'm interested in is where will your staff go when unequiped? Hopefully not on your character's back. I'd enjoy using it as a walking stick.

Bretons still have Dragon Skin. I remember someone confirming to see it as a racial bonus at PAX or Eurogamer.

I was referring to the lack of staff bashing

Even if you cannot bash in Skyrim it should be really easy for someone to mod it in. *cough* Hex_Off *cough*. And I have watched all the trailers and read most (If not all) of the interviews about Skyrim and and I heard nothing about staff bashing. I don't know why they would leave it out...seems like a given to include it...

what is the point of using a staff if you cannot hit enemies with it?

All it does is shoot out those light thingys to brighten an area?

If you could channel any magic through the staff instead of your hand that would be cool. But it looks like they are useless otherwise.

All things are possible because of the modders. Whatever Beth leaves out modders will fix. Only reason I even play Oblivion.

The use of a staff is to casting high powered magic without skill or mana or even knowing the spell. Quite usefull, especially for warrior type characters who need to use a bit of magic.

Wait, so the OP wants to shine bright lights at enemies throughout various points of the series? Because that's practically all Gandalf did, in the movies. He was basically a glorified flashlight.

Curiously, in the only video of a staff I've seen, that's pretty much what it was. A glorified flashlight.

From what I can tell, a staff works more or less like it did in Oblivion, only you can dual wield it. It wasn't really until halfway through the third movie Gandalf started dual wielding though, and the Witch King destroyed his staff 30 minutes later, most of which did not feature Gandalf.

So, all in all we know nothing because no one has bothered to come up with a reasonable source or any definitive, ground-breaking proof that we cannot bash while holding a staff. GG guys
