BAIN bug

I noticed that there are some orphans files left in data after uninstalling some Mods. I realised that they were all zips rars dlls that should have been skipped during install.

After testing I discovered that

is not working as these are being put in data. But when uninstalling they are not removed.

Bain is tracking the files as installed and do not show up in the skiped tab. And show up as missing if I manually delete them.

The other skip process are working fine.

Gday

Just a quick couple of questions regarding the Python modules.

I have Win7 64bit
And was wondering if I use the 64bit versions or the 32bit ?

With the Python modules they have newer releases eg 2.9 3.0 etc . Must I use the versions that is stated for Garybash in the OP or can I use the newer releases of the different Python modules ?


I also am using Win7 64bit, but Python v2.6.5 (or 2.5.4) of 32bit version is used.
The reason to use 32bit version is that the third party library where the prebuild was done is obtained easily :)
Additionally, There is little difference of the performance of 32bit and 64bit in the garybash execution.
If you need performance, should examine "psyco" first.

Thanks a bunch for doing this, valda! Finally a comfortable merge tool for FO3 too. :)

Question: Does the stats tag cover repair lists? If not, what does (if any)?

Random suggestions for misc tweak section of bashed patch:
- compass tweaks (remove poi etc)
- autoaim removal
- levelxpbumbbase or what's it called; levelling rate controls
- global damage multiplier
- damage resistance cap adjuster, like 85, 90, 95, 100; possibly same for radiation
- melee damage strenght multiplier & offset (defaults to 0.5 - strength hardly effects melee damage)
- endurance & level multipliers in max HP formula (20 and 10 respectively by default)
- multiplier for received damage during vats mode

There are some things which are likely to be easily realizable. I want to take in very much.

Sorry, I overlooked a question.
Question: Does the stats tag cover repair lists? If not, what does (if any)?

Repair list is recorded in data structure called FormID list.
And, FormID lists were merged automatically like a Leveled lists.
If esp that removes a specific item from the repair list exists in your load-order, please give the 'Deflst' tag to esp.

This is no longer a problem with release 14

It was only occurring with archives nested inside of PROJECT directories. It was working fine with archives.

Something bad happened.

I clicked on the BAIN wizard option in the installers tab and the Gary Bash closed/crashed - and I cannot get it to restart - even reinstalling the files did nothing.

I put in a question on the Wrye Bash thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1092258-relz-wrye-bash-thread-no-42/page__view__findpost__p__15946941.

Is it possible that a setting got activated or a document created that needs to be removed?

Even in the task manager there is no activity when I try to start it.

Normal Wrye bash for oblivion still works fine so it is not a Python issue (or at least not seemingly so).

[edit] I found it - After deleting the created bash.ini the program started again and seems to be functioning normally. Gonna investigate what that feature does with Wrye Bash - slowly.

I was possible to notice this problem immediately because I had not been installing pywin32 too.
(It was lucky that I'm not Python hacker :))
But, possibly Wrye gurus may not have noticed this problem.
When the wryebash thread was confirmed now, it was written appropriately.

Stable - Yes.

The only need for manual work is to suit your own taste. For instance, you may not want to import all the graphics from some mod, but only carry a few records over. You could go in after the fact and do that manually. Just like in Oblivion.

This program works just like you hope it will.

Is NPC level updating implemented for gamesaves? I try it and it spits this error at me after the progress bar fills about 10-ish percent:

Stable - Yes.

Just bash the patch and then load both the Merged patch and the Bashed patch in FO3edit and see for yourself. with edit you can always edit as you like as well.

Update NPC Levels doesn't operate in fallout3 yet.
I must have removed it from the context menu, but revived somewhere along the line.

I searched for any mentions here of INI Tweaks, but came up empty, so I thought I would ask if they are meant to be working yet.

Each INI Tweak, ones that came with Bash or that I have installed through BAIN are all orange, and when I "List Errors" they all say that they have an Invalid Header. So are INI Tweaks intentionally not working for the moment, or...?

Actually... Is the Bashed Patch feature yet usable also? It yields almost entirely different results from a Merged Patch in FO3Edit. Using a stack of FOIP with FWE/WMK/MMM etc., I've looked through the patch and not everything is always "taking" correctly. Umm... I must be doing something very wrong then. I've used Bash for years with Oblivion so I thought I remembered correctly how to build the patch. My Bashed Patch has been around 907kB-965kB depending on whether I merge those that are Marked Mergeable. My "Merged Patch" via FO3Edit is only 71kB. I'd call that a discrepancy. But when I did look through nearly the whole Bashed Patch I did notice that most everything was just green throughout. But there were a lot of issues like some NPCs not getting the "FWENPCRepair" something or other from FWE (I think it counted as a spell), and instead only getting the "Tougher Traders" benefits from MMM. Whereas the Merged Patch as giving them both. There were also discrepancies in a few of their resultant races like one caravan-trader-something-or-other was supposed to be "Old" and "Hispanic" via Project Beauty but ended up still Caucasian.

I just installed BOSS for FO3 earlier, but I didn't notice any of the bash tags actually changing. The only thing I've noticed is that two of my files for Project Beauty (BS and PL DLC) now have purple text for whatever reason, and I cannot find any form of color legend for Bash anymore.

Semi-P.S. - OK so even after installing BOSS my Bashed Patch is still ~965kB in total. The most concerning are looking at Factions and Creature... Where only TWO creatures are listed in both of them, CrYaoGuai and CrSuperMutant3MinigunB despite there being like 20 entries in each one. And more so with Faction... "Merged Patch" only lists 3 but Bashed Patch lists 14. The only Leveled Creature they share is "EncEnclaveCompanion". Leveled Lists seem to match up OK, but Bashed Patch has a lot more of them. Also "Merged Patch" completely lacks Leveled NPC, Script, and Weapon entries.

Unless you are importing records from mods other than FWE/WMK/MMM into your merged patch by hand and not using the one provided by Mez then of course the bashed patch will be bigger because it is merging in records from many other mods including Project Beauty. It also will merge in some FWE/MMM esp entirely that if your were using just the merged patch you would have to keep active.

You will be pleased to learn that it can also import climate records for weather overhauls, graphics from retextures and other alterations like EVE, and stats (although not that useful yet).

[edit] also I just now realized that FWE has a ew edition out. Hah I updated FOIP but not FWE. Tonight I will do this.

[edit 2] Valda - any chance to get the drag n drop functions as they exist in Wrye Bash 284+?

The "Merged Patch" is the one I myself created through FO3Edit following the instructions. So I just don't get why both patches are so drastically different. You said yourself:

Just bash the patch and then load both the Merged patch and the Bashed patch in FO3edit and see for yourself. with edit you can always edit as you like as well.

It works.


Yet they definitely don't differ by just a few records as yours do.

Also, they sometimes decide to do entirely different things. For instance "LuckyHarith" under NPC ends up with the FaceGen, Eyes, Hair, etc of Project Beauty in Bashed Patch, but not in my FO3Edit Merged Patch. But then for *whatever reason* my Bashed Patch doesn't get the 500 Base Health from Tougher Traders, but Merged Patch does, so what gives? Is this specific example an uncaught incompatibility or am I going to have to edit by hand every single record to get what I want? So, basically each time I change my load order I'm going to have to manually make changes or, maybe, have to create a "Project Beauty - Tougher Traders.esp" which makes no sense to have to do.. As in, why hasn't this been noticed yet, by anybody, and why isn't it something covered with FOIP? (If it is in fact unresolvable by any current means and I'm missing it). But this specific example isn't necessarily reflecting of my whole ordeal. I seem to have lots of mismatching records between two different patches generated by two different processes. I'm tending to lean toward the Bashed Patch at this point, but I'm not sure if I've actually done it correctly in the first place.

As for new FWE, I already have all the newest stuff, and BAIN-ified all my packages. I should have created a BCF for all the ones I did, so I could share, haha. :)
